Timoclea Throwing the Captain of Alexander the Great into the Well, 1659.
Timeoclea was raped by a Thracian soldier who, afterwards, asked for her gold. She told him it was housed in a well and when he went to look, she pushed him in and threw heavy stones. This act earned her and her son freedom as they were pardoned by Alexander the Great.
I loved the posing, the expressions, and the reversed roles captured in the original painting. It was very empowering and as with any big inspiration, I had to make it about BCB ^^;
BCB's depiction of "the after" has made it the most important media for me that humanized myself too. Thank you, Vero!
OH MY GODDDDDD this is the coolest thing in the world, what an awesome painting to make an homage to! I love that it’s Melanie doing it, if only she was able to canonically reach that level of catharsis..
The shading looks so good and I love Melanie’s expression!! You go girl lmao
