I think the point is that Jasmine is starting to actually get closer to Paulo. I know they’ve been dating but it never felt like they were ‘a thing’ if you get my meaning. Now it’s awkward because she is starting to have feelings for him and we all know how Paulo feels about someone else right now.
That and if I was in Paulo’s situation; suddenly being in the lap of your girlfriend would be weird too.
