Yashy: Speaking of breeds, what are you, then, Flea?

Mike: Would you be surprised to hear I’m not a Russian Blue?

Yashy: Yeah, I didn’t expect boring old Flea to be some kind of cool mysterious foreigner.
Mike: HEY!!

*Yashy imagines Mike dressed in stereotypical Russian attire.*
The Three Weird Girls: Ra-Ra-Rasputin~ ♪
Yashy: Kinda appropriate though, right?

Mike: Well, I’m a Korat, okay?
*Yashy is lost in thought.*
Yashy: …

*Daisy appears, waving to Mike.*
Daisy: Mikie!

Daisy: I didn’t know you were a Korat!
Mike: You thought Russian Blue as well?
Yashy: Speaking of Flea’s fangirl squad.

Daisy: I always thought you were a British Blue Shorthair, you know? Such an intellectual~ ♥
Mike: Breed doesn’t decide intelligence. ’Sides, those tend to have copper-colored eyes.

*Yashy is dressed in stereotypical English attire, holding a teacup.*
Yashy: And your British accent is rather deficient, old bean.
Mike: Yeah, same with my Russian.

Daisy: At least “Korat” sounds pretty elegant. I’m half Selkirk Rex.. I feel like a dinosaur.

Mike: Hey, that’s really cool, Daisy! I always liked your little curls.
Daisy: R-Really? Oh, thanks, Mikie!

Lucy: I thought dinosaurs were anything but curly.
*Yashy gleefully holds up an electric razor.*
Yashy: Ehh~? Ehh~?

Mike: What’s your other half?
Daisy: Oh, it’s kind of embarrassing, but..

*Daisy makes a cute face.*
Daisy: I’m part Ragamuffin.

*Daisy smiles softly. Lucy and Yashy glance at Mike.*
Mike: …

*Mike makes an uncomfortable expression. Daisy frowns.*
Mike: …

*Mike blushes.*
Mike: D’aww, that’s so cute!
*Daisy brings her hand to her face, elated. Lucy and Yashy blush and frown.*

*Yashy swings her arm.*
Yashy: A WHORE LIKE YOU CANNOT BE SO ADORABLE!!
Lucy: That’s.. really cute.

Author commentary

Veronica: Want to know a silly fact? Mike was actually SUPPOSED to be a Russian Blue at first! But after a little more time surfing through pages and looking at cat breeds (I was trying to attach breeds to the other characters), I came across Korats.. and I thought Korats were A LOT more appropriate a breed for Mike. Korats even have really sensitive hearing.. so yeah.. but by the time I thought that was more fitting, page three was done, dialogue and all. So I erased the dialogue on a few panels and rewrote it. Thank god I drew with pencils!

Obviously, this nugget of information is outdated because then I went ahead and digitally redrew/rewrote all these pages, but it reflects the stage the comic was in about here. Figuring all this stuff out as I went!

Also, Daisy is the most adorable character ever. Although I feel bad because Ragamuffins are said to be particularly big cats.. and Daisy’s really small. IT’S HER REX TAKING CHARGE, that’s why she’s so small. Yeah.. YEAH. Perhaps her growth spurt will come soon…

My cats a black Korat it sounds weird but her was the only one :3 hes amazing, like this comic, i love it its really good, and the drawings are cute

Ohh.. Once more I see those stereotypes about Russians. Every time I see reference to us, there are always ushanka and domes of the church. At least there are no bears in this page
