I usually re-read the comic, not necessarily always from the start, and I stumbled upon Tess conversation with Paulo about her past in Total Recall. And I just think Mike is currently in Tess past phase with Roger: he is really "not himself" because of (maybe unaware) Sandy. And to be honest, if Tess can have a chance of redemption, than so does Mike. I hope soon, because right now he is isolating himself with his problems, and they are obviously eating him inside.
What is it that has him hooked on Sandy?. It´s like watching an addict going in a cycle of abstinence and relapse. Why he choose Sandy?. It's seems to me that she wanted to break up with him by now but she is afraid of losing him even if it's the right thing to do, because she realized that he is "to nice" and will continue to tolerate her neglect.
