This is also probably somewhat true, at least with the blue scarf having something to do with his love for Lucy. Cuz seriously am I the only one who's noticed that it's the EXACT same shade of blue as Lucy's eyes? Tae's hinted at it too, a couple of times in the comic, like the dream Lucy had before telling Mike how she felt about him. She mentioned that mike had spent a really long time trying to find JUST the right shade of blue that he wanted and that she didn't know why.

I'm the one who did Fridge Brilliance in the trope page, so I think the scarf change was just Mike not using it and Lucy to replace Sandy. He was all broken up for a while after Sandy left, so it's not a huge stretch that he'd go back to ignoring Lucy after re-focusing on Sandy. It sucks. Lucy would almost-certainly be a more healthy girlfriend after she finally admitted her feelings. Plus Mike is sorta adding baggage from a past life to Sandy's concerns. Now, if she moved back, things would interesting quickly... Oh, done with ship talk now.

That theory was proposed long ago, also Mike really isn't that much of a jerk. Everyone's just riding on him too hard and he's a man pushed past his limits.

Also skykitty, I'd bet a lot of money that the reason he needed a particular shade of blue, is because he wanted something to match Sandy's blue ribbon.

The hostility to Lucy could be either his focus on Sandy or him pushing her away to protect his focus on Sandy. In the latter case, this implies he still has an honest attraction to Lucy he wants to avoid. Still wouldn't make being so short with her not a dick move, though. REALLY done now.

Yeah but that's because he's still basically letting out all his rage, or venting away the stress. Basically right now he has just come out of a very stressful situation and would like to keep it that way, so he's trying to keep a low drama profile. Not saying that he isn't hurting wittle Wucy's feelings but considering what he's gone through, he deserves a little space so that he can wait til he's ready. And now I'm done because I don't want to turn this into a thread

Actually, not riding on him. He's incredibly short with Lucy these days when he isn't IGNORING HER ON HER BIRTHDAY. She confessed, he turned her down, she was broken for a short period, she tried to fix her emotional state and get with Paulo instead, heard he was man-whoring, got mad that he turned her down and sexed them, then what did Mike do? "So much for your tender confession." He helps make it worse for Lucy. Denial is lying to oneself. I don't do lying.

Boomer - That could be so but if it was more representative of his feelings towards Sandy then why has he just left it all dirty in his locker? There was a scene, can't quite remember which, where he and Lucy had an argument and he looks down in the locker at the ruined scarf and sorta sighs and shuts it. If it was a tribute to sandy instead of Lucy I would think it would be more feasible that he would resume wearing the blue scarf. Instead he continues wearing this scarf, in my mind this is his silent way of declaring that things are over between them. But. I dunnnno. You could be right, I guess, but to me this theory just seems far more likely.

The reason Mike is uninterested in the scarf his having a connection to the actual Sandy now. Ignoring his "security blanket", per se. He doesn't need a scarf to remind him of Sandy. He has Sandy. An ignored scarf for that reason makes valid sense, yes?

I got the impression that he was surprised to see the scarf, that he had forgotten it was still in his locker.
His expression didn't seem disappointed; rather, he actually looked visibly disturbed.
I just assumed it brought back memories (of Lucy?) which he wanted to remain distant. It seemed to fit with his treatment of Lucy, herself.

Next chapter we discover Tess was the real problem and that Augustus & friends were trying to take her down the whole time.

im still hoping his ignoring her is just his plan to suprise her for her birthday.

Nah Arc we weren't taking your joke seriously, but I was just discussing things with some of the people who really dislike Mike, not about your picture. And it was done back in the old forums I think, but a lot of people hadn't seen it so it's cool that you made a newer one.
