You still need friends, and if Sandy found out the way he acted towards Lucy I'm pretty sure she'd dump him, what he did was cruel and if I knew my boyfriend did that I'd be disgusted, and we all know she is coming in a week...perhaps she will find Lucy in tears and find out what happened.

He might start thinking in a way similar to 'I don't need anybody else as long as I have you, Sandy.' and while it's self destructive it's completely plausible. Mike doesn't even want to talk about Lucy, If it did come to light, Sandy would be feeling more guilty than disgusted.
