Transcript

[The page is a series of scenes of each character reacting to Tess’ invitation.]
*Sue beams, thrilled. Her eyes sparkle like stars. Tiny stars shimmer around her. She puts both hands to her face.*
Sue: Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m invited!! I wasn’t forgotten!

*Sue sees Amaya holding a letter and rushes to her with both hands outstretched. She grins in excitement.*
Sue: .. Wait, Amaya, you too?! AAAAAAA
*Amaya smiles happily, holding up the letter for Sue to see. Stars sparkle around her.*

*Paulo picks up the phone with a cocky grin.*
Paulo: Yooo, David! Did you get the letter?
*David smiles excitedly, phone in hand.*
David: Yup!
Paulo: You goin’?
David: A’course!

*David beams cheerfully, tail wagging in excitement.*
David: Paulo, this is going to be amazing! Beaches! Bikinis! Nothing to tie you down!
*Paulo slumps unhappily, holding the phone with both hands and wincing.*
Paulo: Uhh.. sure..
David: It’s gonna be great!

*Janet leans in the doorway to Abbey’s room, arms crossed over her chest. She looks at him with concern.*
Janet: Abbey.. are you sure about this? Don’t you wanna be with your new friends?
*Abbey glances anxiously at Janet out of the corner of his eye.*

*Abbey smiles to himself.*
Abbey: I’ll be fine.
Janet: You will?

*Abbey turns his head to smile at Janet.*
Abbey: Yeah. I really don’t want to miss my appointment. There’s always next time, right?

*Janet looks unconvinced.*
Janet: Well, I’m sure you could change the date if you needed to..
Abbey: No, it’s fine. I just want to stick to the plan we set up, no excuses.

Molly: Abbey..?
*Molly’s voice comes from behind Janet, startling her. Janet looks anxiously at Molly.*

*Molly peeks around Janet’s hip at Abbey. Abbey turns in his chair to look at Molly, quizzically.*
Abbey: ..?

Author commentary

Veronica: Oh Paulo, when will you get over Tess.

You might have noticed a change with the art! Hopefully what appears to be a downgrade? ;__; Just a smidge? Not enough to be hideous and bad and sticking out like a sore thumb?

While I edited a lot of the expressions/poses/etc, Summer Vacation and onwards are not getting complete and utter redraws unlike the grid-comic pages. It didn’t feel as necessary here. It would also mean the Omnibus woulda taken.. like.. two more years to make. It would have been ridiculous. It was already ridiculous enough I redrew all of Volume One!

So the art isn’t going to be as strong for a while since I pretty much just tweaked a lot of areas and the colours were changed to match the aesthetic of Volume 2. I hope this is okay!! I still think Summer Vacation looks great!!! And the tweaks/edits/dialogue changes have made it even better!
