Daisy: Attention, everybody! We’ve got a birthday in the house!
*Daisy claps her hands.*
Everyone: WHOO!

Daisy: Now, on the count of three..!
*Daisy winks.*

*Confetti flies into the air.*
Everyone: ONE TWO THREE!

*Daisy, Paulo, David, Lucy, Yashy, Blur and Chirpy sing and dance in lobster costumes.*
Everyone: ♪ Happy happy birthday, we’re really glad you came! ♪

Everyone: ♪ Happy happy birthday, from the lobster gang! ♪

Everyone: ♪ We really are excited.. ♪
*Paulo makes a sour face.*
Paulo: Not me
Everyone: ♪ We hope you are impressed! ♪

*The group finishes the dance with cute and energetic poses.*

Author commentary

Veronica: The characters will actually be aging throughout this series.. we’ll keep track of birthdays!

Mike’s birthday is the 10th of August. These little chapters help get you aware of how much time has passed in the story itself, so they’re pretty useful. Jon Arbuckle celebrates Garfield’s birthday, doesn’t he? It’s REALISTIC.

One thing to point out that’s amusing to me is that Red Lobster no longer sings this song.. at least the Red Lobster I used to work at. Isn’t that depressing? It’s such a nice and happy song, too! I’ll definitely miss it. They replaced it with the generic birthday song now. What a bummer!

Fun fact: Michael’s sister, Haley, has her birthday on August 9.. but she’s like a full year younger.. so she JUST turned thirteen.. but she’s too unimportant a character to get a celebratory comic. THAT’S JUST HOW IT’S ALWAYS BEEN.

Oliver: Intermissions like this were originally in lurid Prismacolor-brand pencil, which was a bit of a sad thing to lose! But in the name of harmony, they’re rosy pink now.
