*Lucy lounges on the couch while Mike reads.*
Lucy: Just about ready for high school?
Mike: Nghh..

Mike: This is the first time I’ve ever made it into an Honors class so I really don’t wanna screw it up..

*Lucy shrugs dismissively.*
Lucy: Whatever you say, brainiac.
*Mike glares at Lucy.*
Mike: !

Mike: Have you started any of your reading?
Lucy: No way.
*Yashy and Blur sit elsewhere, playing cards. Mike and Lucy’s fighting captures their attention.*

Mike: Enjoy your bad grades.
Lucy: Enjoy your SHUTTUP!!
*Yashy and Blur frown, unimpressed.*

Lucy: I haven’t failed anything yet! So don’t call me stupid!
Mike: I didn’t CALL you stupid!
*Yashy and Blur turn to look at each other.*

*Yashy waves her hand in the air, casually.*
Yashy: Skip to the make-up sex already!
*Mike and Lucy stare at Yashy, appalled. Blur joins in, a smug expression on his face.*
Blur: You heard her, lovers!

Lucy: SHUT THE HELL UP!!
*Lucy swipes Mike’s book away and hurls it at the pets.*
Mike: My book!!

Mike: What the hell, Lucy! I was reading that!
*Yashy giggles at Blur, the book plastered on his face.*
Blur: …

Mike: Why are you such a drama queen!
*Blur’s beak is bent upward from the impact.*
Blur: …
*Yashy smirks.*
Yashy: Cool beak.

*Yashy and Blur walk away as Mike and Lucy continue to scuffle.*
Yashy: See ya later, lovebirds!

Blur: Man, all they ever do is squabble.
Yashy: I’ll say.

*Lily appears, and narrows her eyes at Yashy.*
Lily: Were you picking on them again?
*Yashy smugly smiles.*
Yashy: Oh, you were listening?

*Blur shrugs.*
Blur: It’s like they forget they’re friends sometimes. They’re so ignorant!
*Yashy looks on, fondly smiling at Blur.*

*Lily holds a hand to her mouth and laughs.*
Lily: And you’d know a thing or two about ignorance, hmm, Blurry-dear?
*Blur frowns.*
Blur: What?
Lily: Oh, never mind~

*Yashy raises her hand.*
Yashy: HEY, leave him alone!
*Blur smiles at Yashy.*

Yashy: He’s like.. mentally damaged. Not ignorant!
*Yashy playfully swipes at Blur.*
Blur: …
*Blur scowls and blushes.*

Blur: I’m just.. hazy about things, alright! I still remember some stuff..
*Blur rubs his head.*

Veronica: We’re nearing the end of summer vacation already..

When I used to post these updates to DeviantArt, I was actually updating as time passed in real life, so by the time I drew the eighth grade finale, we were already into the end of July if I remember correctly. And High School tends to end at the end of June at the LATEST. So I had very little time to squeeze summer vacation comics out if I wanted to keep up with the current time!

Luckily for me, I eventually decided that following current time was impossible, especially if I wanted to spend more time making the comics and planning events out properly.

And, I mean.. as of 2021, the characters are only now getting to the end of 2008. Time slowed to a crawl over in BCB land..

One amusing bit to add is that I actually did RESEARCH to find what books to have Mike reading. My friend was going to ninth grade at the time and he was made to read “Things Fall Apart”.. so that’s why I chose that as the book for Mike to read. I feel embarrassed because when I went to Honours English in my senior year, I was made to read “Things Fall Apart”.. I don’t know why I was issued it so late yet my friend got it so early in his school! Maybe my school was just stupid.

Or maybe I’m stupid, I only got to Honours English in senior year and that was due to an error!!!!! I still survived it…
