It's been a while. Just clicked on a random part of the comic and it took me to SOMEWHERE, don't remember where, at the end of volume 2 and read all the way to the currently posted page. Made me wanna draw this. I'M BACK, BABEH!! I promise I won't loose this account.

It was in the middle of Another Path where Paulo dreams of how the situation would've played out if he went all the way with Lucy.

Now, this is what I kinda wished that Daisy had said before the current page. Daisy was just maybe a bit too submissive in this, and just let Abbey leave. If she did say this, I think that maybe Abbey wouldn't've ran away.

Now, when I thought this in my head, I thought it would have more impact. And then when I drew it, I kinda realized that maybe Abbey wouldn't've reacted like this to lines like this, but I think the meaning can be understood from it. I'm sure someone else could've made it look better.

i think that perhaps she knows not to use that line against him (as augustus already had in love my way, which daisy bore witness to). i mean, from the people i know who grew up with abusive parents, hearing that you're becoming just like them is one of the worst things you can hear. i don't know if she's conscious of it in this moment, but /maybe/ she knows better than to break him like that (although this relationship was bad and i think she should have at least been conscious of how paulo was hurting him lfjsklfsd)

but i do agree that, with the sort of impact it has on him, he'd be more likely to stick around to continue to argue or have a breakdown right then and there

I'm actually glad she DIDN'T use this line on him.
When you grow up in an abusive family, society as a whole expects you to "turn out like your father".
Abbey lashed out after years of abuse - it was wrong, despicable, and I wish he hadn't done it, but he is not becoming like his father.
When Paulo beats up Mike, strangles Mike, gets people to beat him up, throws food at Abbey, insults him for no reason, nobody says that "Paulo is becoming an abuser" even though Paulo has been guilty of performing actions that could be construed as abusive - but because Paulo has a good dad and comes from a good family, nobody says "you are becoming abusive".
It sucks, because even though Abbey is in therapy and he is improving (him lashing out at Paulo was wrong, but considering he was much more angry and violent two years ago in comic time, he has showed signs of imroving) everybody compares him to his father.
If Daisy had said this, it would have been such a stereotypical, shitty thing to say.
Abbey needs to apologise for what he did to paulo, he needs to continue to grow and not resort to violence, and he needs to learn that not every woman is going to end up like his mother, and that he doesn't need to protect them - he doesn't need people comparing him to his father.

@Rory Oh yeah, I didn't think about that. Yeah, Daisy would know for sure not to say that, and it would REALLY hit Abbey hard.

@Kaynime And I can understand what you're saying too. I didn't even think of any of that. I think that maybe with my Paulo bias, I didn't give Abbey enough credit.

Maybe I should think about the characters of this webcomic more...

@LachlanDS That's why I post these kinds of things here. These kinds of arguments about this thing we love is really interesting ^^

@LachlanDS - it's all part of the fun!
The whole reason I enjoy this comic is because everyone is so well rounded and three-dimensional.
Aside from Alejandro, there's no real "Bad-guy" - every character has their pro's, cons, faults and foibles.
I debate in the comments because I enjoy it, and I enjoy hearing others opinions! It might look like arguing to the outside world, but its all in good fun!
