*Paulo, folding his arms, is continuing his story for Daisy.*
Paulo: And then.. my father got off his couch.. and I was all..
*Paulo makes an exaggerated pleading face.*
Paulo: NO!! Please, Daddy! Please don’t!!
Paulo: And he took the last sugarpop. My three-year-old heart was crushed..
*Daisy holds her hands to her face.*
Daisy: Oh, you poor thing!
*Mike looks tired.*
Mike: Well, we’re gonna go now..
*Lucy is moved by the story.*
*Paulo waves, a genuine smile on his face.*
Paulo: See you! Take care, dear friends!
*Daisy watches him in awe, smiling with sparkles surrounding her.*
Daisy: So polite!
*David pokes his head up from the corner.*
David: Cameo!
*Mike and Lucy smile as they walk away.*
Mike: Okay, bye!
Mike: So.. did you like the movie? Or was it too stupid for ya?
Lucy: It was fine.
Lucy: The ending was pretty sad. That girl shoulda confessed her feelings sooner, huh?
Mike: Yeah, especially since it was pretty obvious he felt the same way about her, right?
*Lucy looks to the side, wistfully.*
Lucy: Yeah..
*Lucy looks to Mike, softly smiling.*
Lucy: I guess she shouldn’t have been scared.. I mean, fear of rejection is the only reason she acted that way..
Mike: It’s hard to trust another person with something so potentially devastating, though.
*Lucy looks off to the side, hand on the back of her head.*
Lucy: Yeah..
Mike: Rejection can be scary, but sometimes the risk is worth it.. right?
*Lucy looks on, blushing.*
Lucy: …
*Mike smiles, warmly.*
Mike: That he was willing to wait for her to be ready.. It was something really touching.
*Mike and Lucy look directly at each other.*
Mike: But in the end, they were meant for each other. Everyone could see it but them.
Lucy: Yeah..
*Mike brushes Lucy’s cheek softly.*
Mike: Kind of a meaningful lesson to take away from the movie, right, Lucy..?
Lucy: Mmm..
*Lucy abruptly enters her house, poking her head out from the half-closed front door.*
Lucy: Actually, you know what? You’re right. The movie was stupid. See you tomorrow.
*Lucy slams the door, leaving Mike dazed.*
Mike: Ahh?
*Mike blinks.*
*Mike wails loudly.*
Mike: THAT WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN
END

Reading through the comic yet again…
This chapter is one of my favorites from the early comics. So much is set up; so much foreshadowing. New readers - pay attention to this one…
