Part of me has been thinking Lucy will get physical like the alternation she had with Paulo. Though this time mirroring the same events of confrontation and breaking her nose again.

I’m hoping this isn’t the case.

Aw crap.. well. At the very least I hope Lucy gained a few new perspectives of that horrible day and can stop being passive aggressive towards her friends because of it… But unluckily for Sue now Lucy has a really good reason to be wary of her!!!

I’m honestly worried what the next page will entail and could be a friendship ender between them. And im worried Lucy is so fed up that if sue try to make physical contact, she will hit Sue.

Comment ID #260207

Oh my gosh yeeeessss!!! It sucks because Sue has always been such a good friend to Lucy!!! She isn’t perfect but she’s always tried to look out for her… Also Taeshi made it a point to show us that Lucy is in pain from going ham in gym earlier that day so I wonder if any of that will come into play in the next few pages..?

What are odds that whatever happen next, Sue might flip/change sides?

Rocky Wolfknight

she needed to hear that. harsh? yes but necessary. i’m sure they’ll make up and bounce back eventually.

Guys I’m kinda worried what the next page will entail

Either lucy will lose it and spill what happen during the time they didn’t see her

Or Sue, trying to stop Lucy from leaving, grabs her (unintentionally) and it could trigger a PTSD moment with her and without realizing until too late, turns and hits sue hard enough in the face.

Rocky Wolfknight

Sue, no! Don’t walk it back! Lucy really needed to be humbled a bit. “My trauma this, my trauma that” GIRL, THEY *ALL* GOT TRAUMA AFTER THAT NIGHT!

nalem

Comment ID #260212

Yeah, I don’t see why Sue should apologize for that comment. Lucy simply isn’t special in the regard she thinks she is. Is it harsh to say? Sure. Oh well.

Sue pleeeease don’t grab Lucy’s shoulder. Don’t grab her anywhere probably right now but especially not the shoulder. It would probably be best to let her go for now and for both of you to cool off before this gets picked up again. Of course, I doubt that, but it’d really be for the best…

I’m honestly worried it’s gonna trigger some PTSD and Sue going to get hit hard.

Lucy spent the whole time being emotional volatile that she’s shocked someone did it to her?

Boss

Comment ID #260217

In reality it’s not fair for her to put emotional pressure on her friends. Not that it doesn’t exist but they also just don’t exist to hold her emotional baggage. She has to learn that lashing out to her “friends” and having unhealthy attachments is going to lead to situations like with Mike. Being passive aggressive the whole time and when someone tries to finally talk to her about it she just blames them and lashes out is never going to end well.

Lucy:“Sue… you’re so unpleasant now. Sorry but I can’t let you talk to me this way.”

AlienSpawn

Comment ID #260219

The only way that could have gone bad (worse?) is if they started weighing their trauma against each other. Sue should probably just let her go…

ngl even though I was really hoping for this to be a yelling, crying, painful, messy conversation that ultimately gave them a better understanding of each other, I can’t deny there’s a part of me that was mad curious to see what would happen if it just totally fell apart and left Lucy with like. nowhere to feel ‘safe’ during lunch at school. Girl where are you going to go now!!!!

Antares

Comment ID #260221

I mean, she’s been incredibly rude and passive aggressive towards that “safe” place the entire time, so I don’t really know if Lucy will feel it as a loss, but I do get what you mean.

Nev Ravenoak

Comment ID #260222

Sorry Lucy, this could have been a productive conversation if you had stopped lashing out for ONE second and tried to empathize. I get it though, because when you’re dealing with trauma your perspective tends to get narrower and narrower… The trauma was so complicated that you try to find stability by reducing everyone around you into “good” or “bad” based on that one moment, forgetting everything else they’ve ever said or done to you. This is such good writing!!

Dammit Sue! Don’t walk it back. Why are *YOU* forced to apologize for the things you said, but Lucy is free to treat her friends like trash?

Anyone re-reading the “Confrontation” chapter knows Mike got drunk from eating alcoholic chocolates, but did try to fight back when Sue got hurt (recall that Sue got a broken nose and got tossed against the dumpster) but Mike wasn’t much help and ended up getting knocked out (in the beginning). Paulo at first, tried to stand up for the others more than once but was literally getting barked at enough where he was breaking down and getting wailed on. Lucy then helped out after, and got some good hits in, but it was more of poking the bear than anything, until she started getting assaulted. That moment was a blackout for her with this jerk off pinning her down and hurting her for who knows how long while everyone else was rattled or out cold (refer to pg 20 on the site of that chapter). Mike did help again, once he was physically able to, and Lucy had a moment to recover to save him in the last moment.

Only reason I’m bringing this all up, is that so much did occur during that time and I don’t think it needs to be more apparent that Lucy’s recollection of events due to her own trauma is screwed at best, so she’s not entirely in the right. That said, while I do agree with Sue being direct here to make a point, she didn’t need to tell Lucy that “She wasn’t special”. It sounds silly, but you need to understand It’s not the words, but the context of Sue’s meaning of it, in her frustration. It’s the equivalent of telling a person on their last threads of stability that they don’t matter. Or this case, it’s weighing the differences of their trauma, even though it’s not what Sue really meant. Nothing about Lucy right now is healthy in the slightest, no matter how hard she hides it, so her feeling this trust being betrayed is expected, even despite her trauma blaming Sue.

Sue ain’t some therapist that knows how to handle these situations and this outburst is expected, but that’s why Sue is regretting her last words there. This is a screw up cause she knew she said something she shouldn’t have. What comes next ain’t gonna be better.

My guess is if sue tries to grab Lucy to stop her from leaving and try to apologies, I’m worried It may trigger some PTSD and without warning, shes going to hurt sue and realize it too late
