Honestly depending on what happens now that scene makes less sense. Mike was the only one who tried to stand up for him. Why he would drop Mike for someone like Lucy that only really hurt him before was something i never understood and even less now.

This is way before the head smash into the lunch table that Mike did to Paulo. I believe his decision to say “he would leave everyone” (including Mike) happens before Paulo and Mike really became besties and each other shoulder to cry on.
If I got my scenes mixed up in order; someone correct me.

Page 1 of this chapter mentioned this was a flashback taking place between chapters 90 and 91, right after Paulo got back from Matt's beach party which, if you recall, was when Paulo and Daisy fought over the phone regarding how Paulo was treating Abbey. This is also why Daisy is still with Abbey in this chapter.
