Compared to these two, Paulo is -fine-. He can be a fronting dipswitch, but, like, the regular amount a teenager is.

Mike, I think it's time for you to grow your spine and kick everyone out of your house already

At this point Paulo really should find a different circle of friends, as everyone here is out for blood.

I'm glad Paulo is hearing all of this. Not just because he can find better friends who won't talk shit behind his back, but because he can also reflect on everything they're saying. It isn't all false but it is totally mean spirited, something that kids are great at being..

Not gonna lie, Sue's had this chip on her shoulder regarding Paulo for practically the whole comic, and it's always been her worst character trait. It's not like it's without reason, Paulo’s always been a bit of an unrelenting ass to Sue. (see Popularity Contest, which takes place significantly after this chapter chronologically) Still, seeing her distaste for him with this much direct focus, amplified by Abbey's own personal issues... yeah, this is ROUGH. All said and done, she's still one of the better, more level-headed characters in the series when talking about literally anyone else, but she's certainly not doing herself any favors in this chapter.

Unlike Paulo, Abby, at least he knows how to treat Daisy better than you did. And wasn't some overprotective control freak deciding who she be or be not friends with.

Oh and doesn't PHYSICALLY ASSAULT And THREATEN him either.

And yet you wonder why Aug still pegs you about not being like your father.

That's few of the reason why you and Daisy broke up in the first place. So stop trying to act like your the good guy in all this

Goddd I've said it before, but even knowing things get better after this, this still stings to see. I hope Mike at least tells everyone to get out if all they're gonna do is badmouth his friend, regardless of the fact that Paulo is hearing everything.

Also as someone who's previously been in a similar position as Daisy (a part of a friend group who would complain or badmouth people behind their back, regardless of if it was warranted or not), the egging her on here is REALLY nasty behavior. They're teens, of course, I don't expect them to behave or discuss this stuff maturely, but you can really tell that Daisy's frustrations with Paulo here are heightened because there's other people trying to sway her perspective on him, Abbey especially. He doesn't give her any room to even Think about Paulo in general, regardless of what it might be, he immediately takes it as her "falling for his bait" and whatnot. Of COURSE she would feel more inclined to take Abbeys side here, especially when she'd been giving Paulo the benefit of the doubt for so long. But Abbey's sense of control over her here feels really nasty.

Last one so I don't keep running my mouth LMAO, but I'm thinking back to how Sue sorta defends Paulo during Daisy's birthday party, and I'm curious as to why she was defending him then compared to now. I guess maybe just the shift in perspective of seeing Abbey's hatred for him at something as small as a nice conversation with Daisy, I guess? It's just interesting to me is all

Idk man I've seen much worse from mean-spirited Daisy to like Lucy directly in the face, this is tbh just pretty cute and fricking tame in comparison. _(:3」∠)_ Like, this is all she can muster up behind his back?? Tells a lot!! she's just really frustrated rn with him and on top is also pretty much being peer-pressured here. Easily understandable how this is hurtful to Paulo especially since he just likes and adores her SO much, but yeah even though he bettered up at this point it's not like he was all so innocent in the past. Also idk, I wouldn't say Sue, Abbey and Tracy are exactly his friends so I can be a bit more forgiving to them to how they act… like it's not a cool thing to do at all but maybe we should understand this specific constellation of people wasn't exactly a group of best or even good buddies to begin with, I just really hate how they are dragging Daisy (and Mike) down with their opinion. Like yeah guys, she and him are really close with Paulo and might not feel comfortable with all your shittalking - get over it.

I wonder if Paulo will get to have hearing everyone loudly shittalking him included in his nightmares now like Lucy does lol. Poor guy.

We've gotten a good look at Abbey's unresolved issues here and have a good idea why he's acting badly like this. But I'm pretty intrigued by Sue. She's more subtle and usually tries to be the Reasonable one, but this chapter it's really jumped out at me that she too is teenage girl and definitely has a lot of unresolved feelings about a lot of stuff that's happened. She's got some genuine steam to blow off about Paulo, and there's clearly still some lingering resentment she's grappling with on Lucy's behalf towards Mike. I know everyone's annoyed at her about this but I'm really interested! We've almost never seen her expressing her strong feelings like this, and I wanna know more.

"Critical Hit" tackled some of Sue's issues/insecurities and highlighted some of her misgivings regarding Paulo, but yeah, that chapter barely holds a candle compared to the absolute spotlight this chapter is giving her.
