*The teacher, a male poodle wearing a suit and glasses, stands in front of a blackboard, addressing the class.*
Teacher: Okay, class! Settle down! Let’s begin!

*Lucy rests her head on her hand as she and David listen.*
Teacher: To all our new freshmen.. welcome to Roseville High. There are many changes to take in, but this year will be a smooth ride if you remain diligent and responsible.
David: Ooh, a poodle

*The teacher dramatically points at his students.*
Teacher: And it’s best you do, because from now on there WILL be consequences! This is the beginning of your last years before graduation!

Teacher: You’ll need to be prepared for the HSPA and the SATs and entrance exams and, for the most gifted of you, AP tests and beyond!
*David’s grin grows larger.*
David: He’s a friggin’ POODLE!

*The teacher frowns and closes his eyes.*
Teacher: It is our responsibility to train you for what’s ahead, but you are the ones who will need to put in the hard work to get the academic record of which you’re all capable.

*Tess and Lucy scowl.*
Tess and Lucy: Oh, BROTHER!

*The teacher smiles.*
Teacher: And if you’re not aware, I do teach history. So don’t be surprised if I see some of you later in the day!

Teacher: Any questions?
*David raises his hand.*
David: Can I call you Sir Poodles of Noodles?
Mr. Noodles: No.

*Mr. Noodles glances at the bell as it rings.*
Mr. Noodles: And there’s the bell.. Good luck to everybody today! Your next class will be on your personal schedules!

*Mike blanches at the ringing as Lucy looks on.*
Mike: Oh god, it’s even LOUDER than before!
Lucy: sigh

*Lucy pulls out her schedule as she and Mike start walking to their next class.*
Lucy: Looks like we need to split up.
*Mike looks at her, concerned.*
Mike: Huh? Why?

*Lucy pulls ahead of Mike and turns back to face him.*
Lucy: I’m in CP English first period, but you’re in Honors.
Mike: Oh, right..

*Paulo pops up beside Lucy and gleefully clasps her hand.*
Paulo: Ohoho, so now we’re partners? Come study with me, classmate ~♥
*Lucy glares at him.*
Lucy: Don’t touch me.

*Mike frowns as he watches Paulo and Lucy. In the background, Daisy spots him.*
Mike: Grrr..

*Mike recoils, smiling awkwardly, as an excited Daisy, eyes bright, runs up and grabs his arm.*
Daisy: Oh, Mikie! I’m so happy we’re sharing a class!
Mike: Guh! Daisy!!

*Daisy starts tugging a dejected Mike away as he watches Paulo and Lucy walk in the other direction.*
Daisy: Onwards to advanced learning!

*Lucy pauses to read her schedule.*
Lucy: So, um, where are we heading?
*Paulo beams as he puts his hands on his hips.*
Paulo: Who cares! Let’s skip this one and make out in one of those huge high school bathrooms.

*Tess walks up to them and points to their right.*
Tess: Says room 208.. that’s this way.
*Lucy looks up from her paper.*
Lucy: Hmm? Oh, thanks.
*Paulo pouts.*
Paulo: Spoilsport.

Author commentary

Veronica: Paulo, you’re really overdoing it here.. I guess he spent the majority of summer vacation pining for Lucy and now he’s as obnoxious as ever. TOO MANY GIRLS RUIN HIS BRAIN.

I love the damn poodle too.
