I missed Paulo and Tess’ casual flirting. I liked this dynamic more than Lucy getting pestered in the original concept.

Shoulda known that was going to happen. Poke holes in someone’s theory and you might as well have spit in their face. but I’ll play along, first, i used a hypothetical to show how very easily the nail in the proverbial coffin could have been hammered by someone besides Mike. The proof is just as indefinite for Paulo as it is for mike.

Second, can some of you please google malice. To act of malice means you have the intent to cause harm out of hatred or general ill will. Mike’s intent (and that’s the key word here, INTENT) was to drive it through her thick skull he wanted her to leave him alone. Yes it was done in an incredibly stupid manner, but to be left alone was his intent, not to drive her to suicide, etc and so forth. So his actions don’t fall in the definition of malice. Because he didn’t wish ill of her or even hated her as witnessed by his reaction outside the hospital. He just wanted to be left alone.

As for Paulo, yeah hormones are no excuse. If I got a girl pregnant when I was a teen would I not still be held accountable for it in that I’d have to help raise the child. Whether he’s hormonal or not he still is accountable for leading Lucy on to believe he loved her only to hurt her by sleeping around etc and so forth. Not saying it’s that bad but it was pretty douchey and had a significant effect just as much as mike’s rant.

That said, third, yes everyone did play a part in leading her down this path, whether they intended to or not. Paulo at the play could have easily turned her down and explained why, rather than run off giving her bad imagery. Others who undoubtedly should have noticed something going on with her could have interceded. The group as a whole could have stopped enabling her physical assaults and could have stopped trying to exacerbating things by trying to play matchmaker with Lucy and mike. And yes mike could have handled his anger better so he could have told her off without flying into a blind rage. They all contributed and it wouldn’t surprise me if Lucy comes back with a grudge towards all of them.

tl;dr mike’s hands aren’t the only ones that are stained in this story.
