Is this the chapter where Paulo gets a job at a restaurant? I do believe it is.
Someone above suggested this particular day might be Paulo’s birthday. It could very well be, hence his dad making an extra-special effort to make breakfast for him. Paulo’s dad doesn’t usually cook much.
@Tsumi: It is indeed canon that Paulo’s mom walked out on the family. There’s a bonus story at the end of volume 2 that references this.
