Mike: Now who’s the baby?
*Lucy grabs Mike by the scarf.*
Lucy: Shut up!

Lucy: You’re just cranky ’cuz you were beaten by a girl!

*Mike puts his hand to his face, feigning surprise.*
Mike: You’re a girl? Wow, coulda fooled me!

*Lucy beats Mike up off panel, while Yashy looks weary.*
Lucy: JERK!!
Yashy: Oh, Mom.

Yashy: No wonder you’re always wearing that pink ribbon. Gotta prove yer girlhood.
Lucy: That’s not the reason!
*Mike is knocked out on the floor, in the background.*

[Caption: Lucy, age two]
*Young Lucy plays with a toy car and blocks.*
Lucy: Whee!! Yay~!

Lucy’s mom: Honey, wouldn’t you like a nice dolly instead?

*Lucy’s mom offers her a doll.*
Lucy’s mom: Try it~!

*Lucy’s mom looks on with concern as she gleefully runs over the doll with the car.*
Lucy: Whee~! Immarunovah yew!

Lucy’s mom: I have a present for you..

*Lucy’s mom kneels down and ties a ribbon around Lucy’s neck.*
Lucy’s mom: I know it’s all a little scary, but remember..
Lucy’s mom: Mommy’s always going to be with you.

Lucy’s mom: If you ever feel lonely, this ribbon’ll remind you how much I love you.

Lucy: It’s kinda corny, I know, but it IS comforting.
Yashy: Your mom’s a goof.

Mike: See, even your mom thinks you act like a little boy.

*Lucy takes a swing at Mike, though he dodges the punch.*
Lucy: WHO ASKED YOU!!

Veronica: Wow, a dramatic flashback to how Lucy got her bow! Does this mean one day we’ll find out how Mike got his scarf?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Originally Lucy’s bow was given to her as a way to “validate” her femininity, which is honestly kind of a lame message! So in the new version of this chapter, Lucy’s mother has given Lucy her bow instead to show her love and support. A much healthier parental move than “You’re not predisposed to what society deems feminine? Well, you’ll come around to it because you’re a girl!”

Lucy’s mom has the same shaped necklace like Daisy, but notice that she has no curls, so thus she is not Daisy.

Lucy running over Barbie, very hilarious. I was ok with Barbie when I was a kid, but it’s not my thing anymore.
