*Daisy blushes, staring at Augustus with wide, clear eyes and an uncertain expression.*

*Augustus blushes.*
Augustus: You know, I really like you, Daisy.. If you let me, I could make you feel like the most desirable girl in the world..

*Augustus, still blushing, brings his hand to Daisy’s face as he leans in close, their mouths inches apart.*
Augustus: I can take you away and keep you safe.. Safe from all the others..
*Daisy, blushing intensely, remains in place and raises her hand slightly.*

*Daisy closes her eyes in nervous anticipation.*
Daisy (thinking): That’d be nice.. But.. what about..

*Daisy’s eyes go wide with realization.*
Daisy: !

*Daisy grabs Augustus by the shoulders and pushes him away.*
Daisy: I-I’m sorry!

*Augustus looks surprised.*
Augustus: Huh? Daisy? You..

*Daisy clutches her shoulders, looking away anxiously.*
Daisy: I.. I can’t! Not now! Not when..

*Daisy and Augustus stand in silhouette. They both flinch as the bell rings in the distance.*

*Daisy turns at the sound of the bell, while Augustus gives her a pleading look.*
Daisy: Ahh.. the bell..
Augustus: Wait, what do you mean?

*Daisy runs away, clutching her head.*
Daisy: I can’t explain! I just gotta go!!
*Augustus, upset, calls after her.*
Augustus: Come on!

*Daisy turns back, her expression sad and mournful.*
Daisy: I can’t just let go of him like that! I’m sorry!

*Augustus stands, speechless.*
Augustus: …

*Daisy’s feet pound quickly against the school floor.*

*Daisy notices something as she fretfully hurries through the hallway.*

*Daisy looks over as she rushes past Mike, who glances at her, confused.*
Mike: ?

*Daisy, looking heartbroken, keeps running.*
Daisy: …

*Augustus silently looks on as Daisy moves through the crowd.*
Augustus (thinking): This isn’t going to be easy..

Author commentary

Veronica: Interesting that Daisy was genuinely considering reciprocating his advances, but nope, too thirsty for Mike. Would feel kinda sad to be pining for someone else while being in a relationship.

Oh snap. Daisy ran after Mikie again. Idiot. She knows he is taken, why go after something you can’t have? Of course then again how fun would it be 4 Daisy if Mikie is single? The thrill of the chase owns over true love apparently.
