I think that they would make a nice couple if thats what they want to do later down the road i mean i wouldnt be upset if it happened now but i think abbey still has stuff he wants to work through and he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that wants to juggle working through emotional/mental problems and a romantic relationship

Supportive friends are a blessing when you have doubts and are dealing with your self-worth. Glad Abbey has that outside the main group.

A bit of a tangent but I kinda hate that people always assume a boy & girl being close, vulnerable, and supportive with each other is romantic. It sucks and can ruin friendships - just look at how bad things got with Lucy and Mike from their friends meddling and trying to force them together (Mainly Tess and Daisy, with some unnecessary input from Zachary, from what I remember).

Edit: Zachary actually tried to help their situation by making them self-aware, as Leroy pointed out below. It was their friends meddling and trying to force them together.

I thought he was mostly pretty good; Lucy and Mike were already fraying and he was just trying to help them be self-aware. He seemed like he didn’t have any skin in the game of LucyxMike, he just noticed Lucy was acting depressed and Mike was being a bit of a prick so he was just trying to figure out what the heck was going on, encourage them to work it out, yadda yadda. I read him as very supportive of whatever choices they made, just that how they were behaving during the vacation was toxic and they should shift it.

But yeah, the WebToon update to the story is super illuminating on just how awful the gang were to Mike for not openly reciprocating Lucy’s feelings

You’re right! I just reread and I remembered being a bit annoyed by Zachary for being so nosy, but he actually confronted Mike about their dynamic and warned Lucy about how Mike thought of her as a chore.

Everyone else in the friend group was acting like she was just so over-the-top for trying to find comfort when she thought her best friend died trying to save her. Lily’s “she’s trying to find a replacement” was especially annoying, as if Lucy was just a parasite that needed a new host. (Funny how relevant that image becomes later.)

It’s honestly weird to me how no one else reacted more distraught. I’d definitely be intensely worried about a friend (or even an acquaintance) in that situation, even if they aren’t the closest friend of mine.
