Blur (narrating): And so I went to live with Mike.. but I always came to Lucy’s to visit you guys.
*Chirpy frowns.*
Chirpy: Mommy! I’m bored!

*Yashy, holding a video game controller, glances back at Chirpy with a mischievous smile.*
Yashy: Want me to switch to two-player mode?
*Chirpy looks uncertain.*
Chirpy: But..

Blur: Hey, you two!
*Chirpy and Yashy look toward the voice.*

*Blur, no longer bandaged, approaches, waving a wing.*
Blur: What are you up to?
Yashy: Hi.. you.

Chirpy: Wanna play?
*Chirpy looks up at Blur hopefully.*
Blur: Sure.. how about fly tag?

Chirpy: Fly tag?
*Blur raises his wings up high.*
Blur: Yeah.. S’like tag, ’cept ya fly! Simple, huh?
Chirpy: Umm..

*Chirpy bashfully holds touches her wings together.*
Chirpy: I don’t know how to fly.
*Blur is aghast.*
Blur: What?! How?! Yer a bird! Who’s your mother?!

*Yashy looks up with a blank expression.*
Yashy: ’Sup.

Blur: I’ll teach ya, then! It’s not that hard!
*Blur and Chirpy raise their wings, excitedly.*
Chirpy: Yay!!
Chirpy: Yay!!

Yashy: THINK FAST!!
*Yashy hurls a controller at Blur, who flaps out of the way, barely dodging it.*
Yashy: Whoa, THERE’S something you remember!

*Blur continues to dodge as Yashy wildly swings the controller in the air.*
Yashy: HEY, STAY STILL, YOU.. YOU..

*Yeah, eyes scrunched up, yells in frustration.*
Yashy: WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR NAME ANYWAY!!

*Blur looks annoyed as he hovers in the air.*
Blur: I don’t remember, remember?!
Blur: My mind’s all a blur!!
*Chirpy looks up at Blur in wonder.*

*Yashy stares blankly.*
Yashy: Blur.. Blur..

Yashy: Your name is Blur!
*Yashy points a finger at Blur.*
Blur: What?
*Chirpy raises her wings excitedly.*
Chirpy: Blur! Blur!

Yashy: You’re as quick as a Blur and your memory sucks! It’s perfect!
*Blur scowls.*
Blur: MY NAME ISN’T BLUR!!

*Lily waves at Blur.*
Lily: Oh, hey, Blur!
*Blur smiles back.*
Blur: Hi, Li--

*Blur suddenly looks furious.*
Blur: MY NAME IS NOT BLUR!!
*Yashy puts her hands on her hips, expression smug.*
Yashy: Poor Blur.
*Chirpy stares blankly.*
Chirpy: How do I fly?

Author commentary

Veronica: In the pre-BCB comics of olden times, Blur was unnamed for a VERY long time. He was just called “mysterious bird” by the others.. until Yashy just decided to GIVE him a name.

What’s silly is that Blur acted as if he DID know his name, he just didn’t wanna tell it to anyone. To tell you the truth, I named him Blur after this one artist at the time that I admired. Blur has gotten his own identity after all this time.. and now his name has a proper origin other than “I thought this name some artist had was cool so I’ll be using it for my character.”

Fly tag was a common game among all the flying pets in the pre-BCB comics. There was even a Togetic character participating!! I was an embarrassing kid, LEAVE ME ALONE.
