Well, okay, that’s the problem with over-dramatizing anyone’s sad story - you make every individual a tragic hero.
That aside, I’m loving the progression and the back story. The mom does seem more idealistic than I would expect, but it seems to tie into the way Abbey sees her. She’s an angel in his eyes, after all. She’s the one he fought to protect.
