And why, oh why must every page with a happy Lucy talking to Paulo spark a alk over if they will get together. We have a loooong topic about that relationship (or lack thereof) in the forum.

I loved the punch line, that mad me LoL so hard, especially with Daisy’s face the whole time

I am against sneak peak panels. They work well with some comics, but this comic a) updates frequently enough b) would be really annoying to have too big of spoilers b/c of the themes and c) little enough happens in the off panels. The comics I see with previews are like Goblins. Updates weekly, and all they need to show in the off panels is an action scene or a character pose.

I gotta admit, I much rather the random intensive approach to the preview one. I don’t need a preview, I’ll see it when it happens. Random stuff can only be seen when you vote. It also makes me think that it might deter potential voters who don’t want spoilers.

Honestly, this is the first time David has made me genuinely laugh out loud. It’s hilarious. Not that he’s not usually funny. He’s just not usually laugh out loud funny :p

Yep, it’s nice to see the characters grow and mature as the series goes. David here is a great example. As said before, Daisy’s expression in the 11th panel is the win.

Returning to David, he seems not happy at all with the LucyxPauloness, that’s… well: interesting. I wonder if he’s still shipping DaisyxPaulo or if he just finds wrong the situation.

And I kinda agree with still having a random/flopper incentive. I have never been to much of a fan of previews… it’s kinda like spoilers (and I’m very weak-willed). Besides, we just would have to wait for the next update to see what would be previewed, and thanks to the awesome update rate that you have us used to(thanks and thanks for that), it’s not that much of a wait.

this is actually not even about the page itself,
it’s about the the vote initiative idea…
honestly ? not a big fan… cuz,wall… it’s sorta pointless,isn’t it ?
i mean,you update every two day (also,kudos for keeping to a schedule,
your like the first webcomic artist in history to actually do that.)
so really,it’s like show giving a preview of whatll happen after the chimerical brake.
don’t get me wrong,back when you wouldn’t update for weeks,months at a time,
i would have done anything to get a preview of the next chapter.
but now that you update regularly,
i don’t have to sit around wandering:”whatll happen’ next?!”
(something that i honestly kindda miss doing.) adding a preview NOW will be the death of any suspense the comic might have left.

This is my first comment on this comic, I found it about 3 days ago, and I love it, but I have one small problem… Lucy just left the Sandy-Mike-Luck love triangle for a Tess-Paelo-Lusy triangle… (I don’t have a problem with the whole MIKE and Kucy fighting thing, I kind of expected that, but come on, PAULO!?)

This is the first time I’ve liked David in quite a while. Something about boys and menstruation(haha wow). Paulo is fabulous as always, and Daisy’s expressions are hilarious! Though Lucy is not my favorite character, it’s nice to see her happy and conversing and such.

seriously, this comic is awesome!, umm i guess putting previews panels in the TWC could be awesome, it will attract more people to vote, and it will be like some kind of tv series, with the… “IN THE NEXT BCB” (and then just a panel to keep the people in suspense).
I found this comic looking for comics on google, i entered on a random comic, and i don’t like it, then i saw the BCB banner, it looked awesome, so i try it, and it wasn’t awesome, it was a freaking chuck norris mega awesome!

I personally wouldn’t be as motivated to vote for something I would see in two days anyways. Especially with random stuff like the comic today, these incentives are almost like have that much extra comic to read.

Now if if were the ENTIRE next comic under the vote button, I’d vote every day. But just a little chunk to confuse me? No.

First, the forms must be observed: nice comic.

Secondly, I suggest that you have a link to vote right around/on the comic page. For nearly every other comic, they have easily available vote links right on the page of their strip. I personally could not find yours through my incredibly thorough page-up page-down of the comic strip, and don’t feel like hunting for it.
It seems to grab the readers right after they read the strip, and so catch them at their most vulnerable moment…when they’re filled with joy (angst) at having just read the most recent update of BsCB! instead of having them travel insufferabely far to pick on some unknown concoction of links to find your TWC vote thingy.

Then again, I may just be really, really lazy…and a jerk.

heh, As far as the voting incentives, the funny thing is I use TWC to find webcomics I might like, and although I’m happier when incentives change, I vote on ones that I mark as my faves every day if I can. So once you are a “good webcomic” (BCB is an AWESOME one) you’re on my every day voting list already.

Get an account on TWC, fave the comics you like, hotkey your TWC fave page, and click away to vote. Easiest and least time consuming method in my case. Sorry all about the wall-0-text. I R drunk.

You know Suitcase I think I might know the problem. I pretty sure just about everyone who reads the comic vote to see whatever the new incentive is. The thing is though the incentive only changes on mon-wen-fri. So everyone only really vote on though 3 days. In fact I have a feeling a lot of the readers only really check the site on the days it updates. Personally I’m not on the site every single day unless I want to check the forums. Now technically the best way to get more votes isn’t really the incentive itself but the update time. If say the comic updated everyday everyone would check the site everyday and probably remember to give a vote. Now I know a daily update, even though I know readers would love that, is not going to happen and I’m not asking for that but it’s something to think about.

Also an idea would be to move the vote reminder to say right under the comic itself so its more likely to be noticed to people who don’t say scroll down to read comments because I’m sure there are some reader who don’t bother/really want to read the comment so when they hit the bottom of the comic page they just go do something else.

I’m mostly thinking of my time when I had more time on my hands I used to read like tons of webcomics at the same time. I basically folder in firefox of all the bookmarks and click load all in tabs everyday. Then I closed the ones I knew didn’t update that day so save load time and just read the pages. But I do remember if I happened to notice vote link that day being nice I took the couple second to vote because it didn’t take long and I wanted to help the comics I liked reading.

Though now a days I don’t read nearly as many comics and I at least check the community sometimes. Though right now this comic is my little obsession so I sort of check it every day and I’m going to to try to remember to vote even on the non new incentive days. Though I have to admit I’m probably going to forget plenty.

TL; DR
One thing to think about isn’t the incentive itself but the fact lots of people probably only check the site 3 days a week and some might not even scroll down far enough to see the vote reminder. And people might only even think of voting on the days there is a new incentive.

What about doing a silly spin-off as the incentive? I mean, Precocious do it with Copper Road. It’s not great, but it does the trick to an extent. Some voters claim to vote form 3 different machines a day. It wouldn’t have to be anything serious, maybe the life of Sandy to go with Tayvin’s story…

Maybe you should also add a vote button on the actual comic pages as well, perhaps above the comic between the title and the page number.
I know your vote button is on the main page and I use that, but some readers might just be like “Meh don’t want to go look for it”.

QFT. I hadn’t voted until recently largely because I couldn’t find the link. Especially considering the size of the comic image, the voting incentive image is tiny and surrounded by text. I noticed the format for this page includes rather large, blank margins. If possible, you may want to consider enlarging the Vote image, making it clickable as the link and keeping the text around it to a minimum. If you want people to click the vote link, make it nearly impossible for them not to =P


Oh, and I love the comic! I seriously read through the entire archive in about two days. Excellent story, thoroughly engaging characters, and the constant reader speculation suggests you’ve struck a chord with quite a few people around the interwebs.

Also, LucyXPaulo ftw! However, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop with Tessa. It seems things are going to get interesting in the next few arcs (if not sooner) ^^

Y’know, I just read this page again… and I just realized. Lucy is actually kind’a ❚❚❚❚❚❚’ me off here. I had assumed that she had slingshotted from being attached to Mike to being attached to Paulo since Mike’s rejection and Paulo’s being there for her. But instead of being all aggressive and competative with Paulo like she was with Mike, she’s actually being NICE. If she’d acted like this towards Mike this whole time, even if she was still all anti-social and aggressive to everybody else, she’d have had him in the bag. Seriously, if I was Mike and I saw her acting like that to Paulo, openly and in public, I’d be kind’a angry that she never acted that way to me, on top of whatever other chips would be on my shoulder. Of course, if I was Mike, I’d have to punch myself in the face a few times. He’s not exactly being an awesome guy right now himself. Either way, Lucy has been frustrating me over the past few pages. I think it’s easier for Lucy to be nice to somebody she never had so much emotional baggage to begin with, as opposed to Mike.
In the way of ‘maturing,’ I’d venture to say that none of these characters is truly maturing right now— imagine, trying to civilly settle disputes without romantic tensions and pre-conceived notions?
I’m sure they’re all developing. They just haven’t reached the point where they’re confident in their own self-image.

…ACTUALLY, in that respect, Mike is the MOST mature for having his stated his own personal philosophies, despite his knowing that presenting them would only arouse controversy.
He’s at least honest to himself, even if he has to be a killjoy to the rest of the group.

Not to say that you can’t be mature and have romantic tensions, but the idea of being mature sort of entails that you leave your own personal opinions at the door and approach any given problem with an objective eye.
