*Lucy walks into a classroom, looking melancholy.*

Mr. Noodles: Hello there, young miss.
*Lucy looks up in surprise.*
Lucy: Huh?

*The teacher, “Mr. Noodles”, smiles at Lucy from his desk.*
Mr. Noodles: So I guess you’ll be seeing twice as much of me for the next little while?
Lucy: You’re not teaching regular classes this period?
Mr. Noodles: Nope.

*Lucy holds her arms behind her back.*
Lucy: Sorry for the trouble.
Mr. Noodles: Oh, it’s no problem for me. I’m just relieved you weren’t one of the detention regulars they usually stick me with.

*Mr. Noodles gestures toward a desk.*
Mr. Noodles: For today, just sit and relax. You can work on some of that journalistic writing homework!
Lucy: Okay.

[Caption: And so..]
*Lucy sits at her desk, arms crossed.*
Lucy: …

*Mr. Noodles is writing and humming to himself. Lucy’s attention is drawn to the window.*

*A group of older students gather outside.*
Lucy (thinking): Lucky seniors getting to leave early..

*Lucy notices something that gives her pause.*
Lucy: …

*Two teenagers stand outside, embracing tenderly.*

*Lucy watches them, forlorn.*
Lucy: …

*She sadly hangs her head down.*
Lucy: Nghh..

*Mr. Noodles looks over at Lucy, concerned.*
Mr. Noodles: Is everything alright over there?
Lucy: Uh..
Mr. Noodles: You don’t look well. Is something wrong?

*Lucy gives a forced smile.*
Lucy: I’m.. Just a little tired, Sir. I might put my head down for a bit, if that’s okay.

*Mr. Noodles pouts.*
Mr. Noodles: Well, sure.
Lucy: Maybe just wake me up when the period is over..

*Lucy puts her head down on the desk, covering her face with her arms.*
Lucy: …

Lucy (thinking): I can remember it so clearly..

Author commentary

Veronica: See the two people hugging? They’re meant to be based on two oooolllddd characters I had back in the old series — Bill and Briana.

Their designs are altered massively, but yeah.. they used to be the class bullies, but they were madly in love with eachother.. so if Briana was attacked, Bill would blindly defend her. It was cute.. shame they never made it far.

I guess far enough to be hugging on this page and to trigger some flashbacks!

I’m glad Mr. Noodles is being so accommodating.
