*Abbey rushes after Daisy, waving to catch her attention. Daisy looks down sorrowfully.*
Abbey: Daisy! Hey, Daisy! Wait up!

*Abbey stares anxiously at Daisy, who refuses to look at him.*
Daisy: What is it?
Abbey: Please don’t believe her.. She doesn’t know the first thing about you.

*Daisy droops, miserable.*
Daisy: I don’t really wanna talk right now.
*Abbey looks over Daisy, concerned.*
Abbey: Can I walk you home?
Daisy: I still gotta get something from my locker..

Abbey: Let me come with you!
*Daisy glances at Abbey, color coming back to her face.*
Daisy: Eh.. you’re probably too busy.

*Abbey puts a hand on his chest, smiling earnestly.*
Abbey: No, I’m really not! I’ll spend the whole night with you if you need the company! Just give me the word and--

*Paulo and Mike walk up behind Abbey. Paulo makes a peace sign, looking cocky. Mike smiles.*
Paulo: ABBEY! Let’s go!
*Abbey’s eyes go huge in shock.*

*Abbey nervously glances over his shoulder at Paulo and Mike, clenching his teeth.*
Abbey: Ughh!
*Daisy looks at Paulo and Mike, dismayed.*
Daisy: …

*Paulo looks confused.*
Paulo: .. Hey..
*Mike raises a hand to wave at Daisy.*
Mike: Hey, Daisy!

*Paulo points at Abbey.*
Paulo: Oh, so you’ve recruited Daisy for the job, too? Perfect!
*Abbey glares back, sweating a little and clenching his fist.*
Abbey: …
*Daisy blushes deeply, one hand against her chest.*
Daisy: Abbey..

*Daisy glares at Abbey, shaking.*
Daisy: Not busy at all, huh?
*Abbey looks away, ashamed.*
Abbey: Well, it’s more like I forgot..

*Daisy runs away, ignoring Abbey’s pleading.*
Daisy: Whatever. At least Mikie’s happy hanging out with YOU..
Abbey: Daisy, WAIT!!

*Abbey watches Daisy leave, saddened.*
Abbey: …
*Paulo and Mike watch, confused.*
Paulo: Hey, where’s she going?
Mike: What was she talking about?

*Abbey hunches his shoulders, shaking. Paulo smirks at Mike.*
Paulo: Probably just wanted to streamline the operation, get rid of the third wheel.
Mike: Hey, I aced the last quiz! How are YOUR grades?
Abbey: …

*Abbey spins around to face Paulo and Mike, fists clenched and red-faced with anger.*
Abbey: YOU IDIOTS!!

*Paulo stares at Abbey while Mike cringes and covers his ears in distress.*
Paulo: …
Mike: ..??

*Paulo waves one hand dismissively.*
Paulo: Dude, chill. Sorry you can’t bang her or whatever.

*Mike blushes and looks down, shaking.*
Mike: I’m.. I’m sorry, Abbey.. Can we just go get this over with?
*Abbey calms a bit, looking worriedly at Mike.*
Abbey: …

*Paulo casts an accusing look at Abbey.*
Paulo: Look, now you’ve gone and scared him! You’re such a bully!
Mike: He didn’t SCARE me, I only--
*Abbey breaks out in an anxious sweat and shakes his head.*
Abbey: Never mind. Let’s just go.

Author commentary

Veronica: Abbey to the rescueeee.. or not.

Mike is trembling in the end because of his sensitive hearing, he wasn’t actually SCARED of Abbey, but anyone screaming is enough to frighten him.

These boys need to get better at paying attention to friends who are not love interests! Though it’s funny I say that when one big reason Abbey is paying attention to Daisy is because.. she is a love interest. BOY HOWDY.

Shivery Mike is adorable. Must. Hug. Very. Hard.
Mike gets enlisted: He can hear artillery leaving the barrel, which gives him enough time to yell a warning, plug his ears and dive into the latrine trench.
