Augustus was teasing Lucy about liking Mike, probably aware of them not being friends anymore.
She isn’t saying she would rather die than be nice to him, she’s saying she rather die than like him/say loving things to him.Lucy is definitely NOT innocent when it came to her downfall. She wasn’t a good person. But Mike isn’t that great either. He used Lucy emotionally, which is something we see in older chapters and Dial Tone.
Mike knows Lucy’s weaknesses, and he used them against her in December. I’m not saying he’s wrong for wanting happiness and wanting to be treated better, but he decided to take it into his own hands to tell her that nobody liked her or could ever love her.
