Veronica: Something similar to this does exist. It was inspired by a pretty amazing installation that Souppy and I saw at the Museum of Old and New Art! It was based on a real device used in Australia very briefly. We’ve seen Philip Nitschke (creator and operator of the machine when it was used) speak before.

Welp someone started using my name. Since no one is commenting on the elephant in the room of euthanasia, I’ll start with a friendly convo :)

I personally find euthanasia strange and a little unnatural. The optimist Daisy loving it felt a little out of character, but I’m sure she has a devious side.

I know the terminally ill would be intended use it, but what about depressed patients? Is it fair to allow terminally sick, but not allow the healthy who simply no longer have a will to live? Aren’t both their own ways of suffering? One physically, the other mentally.

Speaking as someone with depression, I find it rather awful that other people might let me indulge in my darkest moments, and even might give me the computer to do it when I show up in an emotionally vulnerable place. Deep-down, when the real me resurfaces from the mental affliction, I really do want to go on with whatever my intended life span is meant to be. The will to live and progress is a part of what it means to be human.

It brings up a lot of tough questions. I personally don’t think its a good idea to start traveling down that road. Curiously, @Taeshi I take it you were for this idea?
