Seems pretty clear that Sandy has too many adult responsibilities to learn how to be a kid.

I don’t know if anyone has pointed it out yet, but I feel that for Mike and Sandy the long-distance relationship might actually work better than when they meet in person. Not because of different interests, although that can be a factor. See, Sandy and Mike have this idealized image of each other (“model girl/boyfriend”) and it’s bound to shatter once they spend more time together (already it’s begun to crack). What interests me is how they deal with the truth and what they decide to do with it.
