Lily: When did you last exchange letters?
Mike: I sent something a few months back. She’s been busy with her studies.
*Lily slightly raises an eyebrow.*
Lily: Well, that isn’t nothing! A lot of people don’t write at all anymore, you know.
Mike: Of course!
Mike: But it’s been getting harder. This all feels kinda.. wrong.
*Mike stares down at the letter, looking forlorn.*
Mike: .. It’s been four years..
*Mike pictures his younger self and Sandy sitting on opposite sides of a brick wall.*
Mike: Surely that changes a person.. Our lives could be completely different now.
*Lily watches Mike.*
Mike: What if it’s a chore for her to write to me? What if she found someone new, that she can actually see and talk to every day?
*Lily gives Mike a mischievous grin.*
Lily: Why would that bother you? It’s not as if you haven’t got someone of your own~
*Mike blushes.*
Mike: …
Lily: Would it really hurt you to know if she did find someone new?
*Mike looks uncertain.*
Mike: I don’t really know.. I guess I’d be happy if she was happy..
*Mike frowns, looking up to the ceiling.*
Mike: It just feels like life has moved on. Sandy is more like a memory than a friend to me, now..
Mike: I wish it wasn’t that way. I can’t help but hope one day a letter arrives with the news she’s coming back..
*Lily narrows her eyes.*
Lily: You really haven’t gotten over her, have you?
*Mike looks directly at Lily, a little defensive.*
Mike: You can’t blame me! We were friends for so long.. we were inseparable. If she never moved, that wouldn’t have changed.
*Younger Mike and Sandy reach for each other, tears in their eyes.*
Mike (narrating): I can’t just abandon her like that. Not after what we had..
*Mike remembers laying with Sandy under a tree.*
Mike (narrating): I just.. feel sure that if Sandy was here, we’d be boyfriend and girlfriend today..
*Mike looks back at Lily, who looks concerned.*
Mike: So isn’t it right to wait? I told her I loved her..
*A young Mike and Sandy hold hands as they run, smiling at each other as flowers and hearts surround them.*
Mike (narrating): Would our promises mean nothing if I gave up now?
*A plane flies through the clouds as a small bird sits on the clock from Mike’s local park.*
Mike (narrating): The distance makes it tough, but we’re in high school soon, right? Maybe we’ll find a way..
Mike (narrating): We’re meant to be, aren’t we?
*Mike looks down, upset.*
Mike: But.. I feel like a ping pong ball living this way. I see Lucy every day..
Mike: Then all it takes is one letter from Sandy and..
*Lily looks on with concern.*
Lily: …
Mike: It’s a test, Lily.. and if I’m failing it, I’m failing her. I just wish she was here..
*Blur enters the room looking annoyed, followed by a smug Yashy.*
Blur: God, SHUT UP!!
Yashy: Sore loser! Sore loser!

In my opinion, the “soul mate” thing doesn’t completely exist. After all, some people never meet the person their “destined to”.
…I just noticed the title, I suddenly have a strange feeling Mike’s about to be shot down…
