Yeah I think Mike was more referring to feeling like he was emotionally cheating on Sandy with Lucy. This mindset was effectively explored in Dial Tone, Mike’s nightmare sequence. He’s always had a bit of a cheating complex ever since Freshman year, when Paulo and Daisy basically got the entire school to hate his guts for cheating on Sandy with Lucy.

Wait when did Lucy she cheat on her partner, lead someone on then get back with that partner???

Lucy may be just as cagey with her emotions as Mike, and had her own issues around physical abuse, but I don’t really think the two are really comparable in regards to how badly Mike hurt Lucy with his cheating complex and the short-lived rebound after Sandy broke up with Mike. I don’t think what Lucy and Augustus have been doing in response is good or healthy at all, mind, but there’s a bit more nuance that can’t really be reduced to blaming them both for the same thing.

I don’t know, the way i see it the only real difference between what Lucy did to Paulo and what Mike did to Lucy is that Paulo handled it with more maturity and Lucy held on to it like a grudge.

Like Lucy was very justified to be upset at Mike at first but should and i hope still will at some point come to the realisation she has hurt people in a simular way too and they forgave her.

Her holding on to grudges is one of the things that is hurting her the most and is something she has the power to get rid of if she wants too.

When was that? I’m relatively new to the series.

In another shoulder after Mike rejected her she went to Paulo for comfort and ended up kissing him and trying to push for more even after he already said no, luckily Paulo realised she wasn’t in the right state of mind and didn’t do anything to her.

In Curtain Call Paulo wanted to tell Lucy about his feelings about her but before he had the chance Lucy asks him to make out

I don’t remember which chapter but it was later revealed they had sex.

Then in After You she admids to Paulo that she didn’t have any feelings for him and that she was just trying to tide him over. Because she knew she would have been transfered and never had to see him again.

To quote what she said “I thought I’d get away with it and never have to see you again”

She did apologise for it which was a a really good character growth moment for her which she sadly completely abolished later on in Double Down when she and Paulo had a fight and she turned that heartfelled apology in a “I did it cause i felt sorry for you”

Bro… Lucy sucked but like… a couple things…

Lucy tried to leave multiple times during eternal flame, Mike pressured her into staying. Paulo was never pressured. Also there’s like… the whole thing of rebounding with someone who’s attempted because of your words 😭😭.

Deep down Lucy is still vulnerable to Mike. Mike told Lucy all the things she wished to hear from him, just so her guard would drop and he could get close to her. It’s called manipulation. He didn’t do it out of malice, he’s not bad, but it was out of selfish reasons and he didn’t stop himself.

Paulo knows the best option when it comes to bringing up Sandy to Mike will be to be a lot more slower and calmer. He would rather not feel Mike’s fists again, even if this time they will be a lot weaker because of Mike’s current condition.

The fact that he’s weak on all fronts is why I’m worried. This needs to be approached from a delicate but precise angle because even good intentions could push Mike deeper into his spiral.
