Normalize cheating Daisy
Random
Comment ID #76329
Daisy simply doesn’t know what we know. Cheating is abhorrent full stop however there are situations where people think the relationship is over and rebound when apparently the relationship isn’t or they slowly ease into emotional cheating without knowing it or if someones being abused and forced into the relationship and feel trapped in it and end up attached to someone else. They would by definition be cheating but it would be at the very least understandable.
Heck for all Daisy knows Mike cheated and made up Sandy cheating to make him not look as bad. He doesn’t tell anyone anything so ofc people can’t understand what they dont know

Poor Lucy can never escape having her very existence wrapped up in being in a romo rl/intimate matter. WILL SHE EVER BE FREE!!!

This so much. It’s soul crushing when “friends” only see you romantically, either as a potential partner, or being forcibly shipped with one.

Wait till Paulo hears the Entire story… then let’s see where he stands.
If he ever hears it….

I’m honestly pretty shocked that Daisy isn’t instantly 100% on Mike’s side and instead is thoughtful about the nuance. I can’t tell if that speaks to how she and Mike have drifted apart a little (like in the Halloween chapter) and she’s not as willing to give him benefit of the doubt, or if she genuinely just wants to know more before jumping to conclusions

Yeah, I think the only way her response really makes sense is if Daisy is somewhat annoyed with Mike, because it doesn’t really square with me that she’s defending someone cheating on her friend.

Paulo, no… They should never “get it on”. Especially not anytime soon.
But he has so little knowledge of the situation, this doesn’t seem much different than past issues between them to him.

I don’t care what reasons people contrive in their heads. Cheating has no excuses. Grow a pair and tell the person your feelings have changed. Sandy honestly is the most irritating character. She was super manipulative and controlling with mike. Calling his interest like gaming childish, making an issue with His and Lucy’s relationship etc. I don’t understand how people can defend her honestly.

Im not sure what youre referring to with his and Lucy’s relationship other than her specifically pointing out he shouldn’t be getting the crap beat out of him by a friend because friends aren’t like that. In fact, when Mike talked to her at the fashion show after December, she specifically told him to make up with her and stop talking about her so negatively because she could tell that lucy genuinely cared about Mike from the text she sent. I absolutely cannot stand more modern Sandy, but I dont remember her ever being an issue with Lucy and Mike’s relationship other than like…hey im sad hearing about you getting beat up by a “friend”.

things probably would go back to normal… and that’s a bad thing. we’d be back to Lucy getting overly hostile, and Mike acting in ways that goads a poor response out of her
nobody wants that. Lucy explicitly doesn’t want that. yeah you’re probably gonna have to get Sandy out of the equation to do anything remotely close to fixing those two but you can’t force it beyond that

may as well address the other weird thing said while I’m here
in these circumstances there’s one possibility that could make Sandy’s actions not as bad, while making the whole situation even worse, and the more Taeshi talks about it on tumblr the more likely it feels; that Francis was grooming Sandy and manipulated her into it. in that case, while it’d still be hard to say Sandy didn’t make any mistakes it’s a more sympathetic circumstance
but one problem there: Mike is already plenty sympathetic to Sandy’s situation! stacking on more isn’t going to magically make him able to forgive her. Mike has been trying his hardest to make it work and it just no longer is. it sucks, but sometimes things just can’t be fixed and you gotta let it go
…well it would suck more if Mike continually doubling down on this relationship wasn’t the root cause of a large chunk of his problems, but that’s more Mike’s fault than Sandy’s

Even in the highly unlikely scenario that Mike and Lucy become friends again and forgive each other, they still might be some level of boundaries and tension between the two.

I agree with Paulo, Mike needs to have any ties to Sandy cut. She isn’t healthy for him, and is likely the biggest hurdle that is keeping him from being able to work on himself. But smashing his phone isn’t the solution. The best way for Mike to no longer speak to Sandy is he needs to realize that she isn’t good for him himself. But, what Paulo can do is slowly help him understand that.

Daisy is used to picking apart problems for schoolwork, hence her 4.0 GPA. (I’m interested to see her SAT score!) So wanting to take into account any causality is natural so she has all the pieces of the puzzle.
But I can’t help but wonder if her feelings for Sandy are a factor…

First of all, I really like this page. I love seeing Paisy ❤️ they’re so cute.
Anyways, Mike leaving Sandy feels like its def gonna happen eventually, they’re just too young, inexperienced, and immature to handle long distance. Sandy cheated on Mike but is acting like everything is alright (cuz Mike took her back immediately) but their relationship has a gaping hole in it that neither either want to talk about or face. So they’re destined to fail.
Mike has been so angry and defensive due to Sandy, that its affected his friendships.
Sandy cheated on Mike, so she was obviously not taking the relationship seriously.
It would be best if they broke up, grew up, and maybe tried again later as adults if they both are still single.

Even if things got resolved, Mike and Lucy wouldn’t be the same, too much has happened at this point. I can understand Paulo’s desire to have the two people most important in his life back to the way they were, but the beautiful and cruel part of it is choosing to care for someone is choosing to love someone new every day.

Is it wrong to say they should beat each other up at this point to finally get these feelings out?
Rocky Wolfknight
Comment ID #76358
Both Mike and Lucy still have feelings for each other. It is part of the reason this current mess is happening. Neither want to let go nor give any mind to those feelings, so they just bottle them up and push them down deep. If they were to even give it a shot, they both need to properly heal and build up to being friends again. Only time can tell what will happen.

Idk. As someone who identify’s with Lucy for all the worst reasons, there comes a point where you’d rather be alone than keep chasing after someone who you can’t trust to put you first. I think Lucy hit that point in Burnt Bridges. Otherwise she would have tried harder to stop Augustus from sharing their past with James

Maybe this is jumping several guns but I wonder if Daisy is gonna cheat on Paulo in the future. She doesn’t seem to consider it an unthinkable sin and she’s always been insecure and craved extra validation on her desirability and that’s a huge reason people end up doing that…

Sorry, this is going to be a bit long!
I don’t think Daisy is outright defending cheating. If you look back at the conversation with Mike. He blamed himself for Sandy cheating. So it seems like she took Mike’s words at face value and instead of just saying it’s all Sandy’s fault like Paulo. She’s taking Mike’s own words into consideration.
In Daisy’s case, since Mike didn’t exactly tell her why he thinks Sandy’s infidelity is his fault. She wouldn’t be able to tell Paulo how their mutual friend even came to that conclusion. The only thing she can relay is what Mike said. Which is the right thing to do, because it would’ve been wrong if she had ignored what Mike told her and thrown around accusations while retelling the story to Paulo. When she doesn’t even have all the facts.
