not… really? it’s only not being like them in the sense that she doesn’t want to do something that could jeopardise the relationship, she wants to take things seriously and that means not pushing too hard too fast
like yes if you know your partner’s previous attempts kept falling into this one specific pitfall you’d do whatever you could to avoid that pitfall

That’s what I’m afraid of. She’s NOT going to take it seriously and let her insecurities surrounding Lucy and his past partners get to her and it ends up affecting the relationship (🫣I’m stilll rooting for them but i just want her to let go of her past issues.)
I’m just saying it took her awhile to get over Mike and that only happened after he kissed her willingly. I don’t think she’s going to let this go until it happens or Paulo caves from pressure

she was over Mike before that kiss, she explicitly says in that conversation that the only reason she can talk to him about all that stuff is that she’s over him, and the kiss just confirmed the feelings aren’t coming back
anyway, I guess the thing not really convincing me on this take is that the conversation feels like as much of an address to Daisy’s insecurities as it does Paulo’s? yes, it’s going to be different, but yes, that’s fine. it’s not like Daisy doesn’t have any experience rushing into things, it’s just that she only ever got as far as kissing so it’s not as prominent as Paulo’s sex life, Abbey ultimately didn’t work out either
still expecting more of a middle ground here. they don’t have to rush into higher levels of intimacy, but they don’t have to be as chaste as Paulo and Jasmine were

When you’re over someone you don’t reciprocate a kiss “just to make sure” after everything Mike has put her specifically through, there really shouldn’t a question if there lingering feelings. (Just saying if guy full on yells at me in front of my friends and starts insulting me to that degree: there ain’t no feelings left)
My take is I really just want to see her in a relationship where the feelings are mutual but neither are letting their past insecurities get to them to much.
Daisy seems the type to want to rush just because “everyone else did”

Daisy “seized the day” I see (the imagery is remarkably similar to page 32 of Double Down). Daisy has been getting a surprising amount of scorn from the fandom throughout this chapter, but I like they’re actually communication and not bottling everything in like other characters in the comic. Plus seeing Daisy kiss Paulo is just adorable, they’re like a beacon of light at this stage of the comic.

Perfect. That’s just how this conversation needed to end. Both acknowledging each other’s needs and boundaries and taking a middle ground. Especially an action that tests the waters and makes sure she pushes past the “not just like a sister/friend to you” mentality Paulo might have had with her.
