TFW your mom perpetuates a misogynistic worldview by making you take on the mental load for both your brothers

In all fairness as a sibling you should be the first to pick up when you’re sibling is not doing great so it’s mom sees it Hailey should too. I think even as a kid I could tell my single mom needed help taking care of all of us with a job so asking her to just take him lunch and watch out for eachother isnt really a crazy move. As soon as mom said “I’m worried” that should be it you can ask why later, she’s not asking you to move a mountain here

In all fairness she’s basically Chris’s parent. But sure, let’s shame her for not mothering him AND Michael smh

No one’s asking her to mother Mike, she literally just asked her to give him a lunch because they go to the same school

Haley Please dont make Mike pay for what your Mom is doing to you.
I know it isn’t fair, and you need help and tome time to relax but Mike is in danger.
Don’t go towards the Parkside.

idk what some of you want from them. Haley’s been treated pretty poorly before but that doesn’t suddenly make “take 5 minutes out of your lunch to give your brother his” evil or anything
and Mike’s very clearly in a crisis right now! Ellen’s got to do something, Mike left too quickly for her to directly intervene, and I’m guessing “beat up Frank for being an absent asshole and forcing her to badly juggle taking care of all three kids alone”, while cathartic and correct, is neither practical or would really solve anything

When ur the sister of a nuclear family so now you have to take on a mental load because ur father isn’t fathering and your brother is a guy so his feelings and problems matter more

I get wanting to give some extra attention to your kid when his behavior is visibly different but is not like Haley is immune to her parents’ marital problems 🙃 this sucks for everyone, dang

It’s weird that everyone wanted a parent to pay more attention and one does, suddenly she’s at fault. When you’re working and taking care of three kids and one is visibly depressed and not eating you’re not thinking. “How can I be fair to everyone”, you’re thinking “how do I make sure this family survives”. Being a working mom is not easy, and no that doesn’t excuse Mike/Haley’s mom of wrongdoing but she just wants Mike’s own sister to look out for him and instead she’s taking it out on his note that he could probably use right now. I hope that Haley does see how much support Mike needs right now. So they can support each other.

I don’t know how people are justifying Haley’s behaviour here. Just because her mum makes her babysit sometimes doesn’t mean she should take an active role in her own brother’s starvation

I’m also a bit confused. Didn’t she the one time we saw her suppose to babysit Chris shove that responsibility onto Mike so she could go sneak off and party?

Jesus girl, quite the opposite of Jordan.
Those feelings are that much stronger than worrying about your brother?
well, I had something similar with my cousin I grew up with, so I can relate a bit… but still, I hope she’ll pull through it later on.
Mom will probably ask Mike about the lunch anyway, so why get in trouble
