Wonder exactly what she’s referring to here, because they didn’t know about how she was feeling til she jumped. What could they have done?

That’s right Sue, you did nothing. You were supposed to get up after getting your ass beaten, and win in a fight against two grown men as a twelve year old girl, was it really too much to ask?

I see the pentagon’s cryptologists finally cracked the code. Too late for Sue though.

Finally, tell her what’s haunting you. You don’t need to be the only one holding that, share the burden.

Comment ID #243682
finally. now hopefully Sue can remember she got beaten to the point where she literally couldn’t stand and call out the bullshit for what it is
Sue and Paulo did not “do nothing”, and Daisy had a very understandable freeze response because the lot of them were 12, and Lucy wanted to keep her out of the fight anyway. the trauma doesn’t justify this response, she knows that, but given the slightest pressure she tries to justify it anyway

It’s funny Lucy says they did nothing, when she was actually the one who stood by and watched Paulo and Sue get assaulted, only intervening when Mike got hurt. Sue has just as much of a right to say that Lucy did nothing to help her

Girl, you actively did everything to make sure people COULDN’T do anything to help you. You hid all your issues and brushed off everyone showing concern. People were on your side, but Mike’s words cut so deep that you believed them despite all evidence to the contrary, and clearly you’re still internalizing them. I’m not gonna victim blame, but holy shit girl, you are in no place to point fingers yourself. Back to therapy. Yesterday.

Comment ID #243687
The irony here is that Lucy is the one victim blaming
She got so caught up in her self pity and victim complex she forgot that Sue and the others also were victims that day

Ohhh the darker color shift is soooo effective! I hope Lucy doesn’t stop herself short of unloading like she did in All in the Mind! I hope she keeps going and Sue figures out there’s something reeaaally festering here!!!

I’m glad they’re having it out! Even if it’s not the most healthy way or feelings, communication is good and important! Especially compared to bottling up these feelings and building up resentment even when she knows she “shouldn’t be” mad. It’s okay to have complicated feelings! What a hard thing to learn at that age. As always, great work portraying their struggles!

God imagine you and one of your best friends both get assaulted when you were 12, have your own unresolved trauma about it, and then you find out several years later she blames you for it in the form of her screaming at you in public

everyone pointing out that Lucy is delusional is acting like she’s supposed to know better that she’s wrong and being delusional… do people know how delusions and trauma generally work lmao
Lily Hoyda
Comment ID #243697
Well, hopefully this can be a step in the right direction. We understand Lucy has trauma, but Sue has it too. She literally got beaten up for them. By grown men. Which would explain why she pulled away from Mike when he started displaying violent tendencies.

you misunderstand my point: they’re all traumatized kids and no one needs to put anyone in their place over who’s correct in blaming whoever else. people comment like lucy’s a grown adult who should know better or something
Lily Hoyda
Comment ID #243699
I didn’t want to interject, but past pages have shown that certain parts of the fandom hold Mike to the same level of accountability, arguably even moreso, as the adults in the comic despite the fact that he’s also a traumatised kid who is clearly struggling with mental problems. Not saying that makes it right or justified for people to hold Lucy to such scrutiny, but it’s not just Lucy who has gotten this treatment.

I don’t really understand your point. It’s a story, even if a character in a story doesn’t understand their own flaws yet doesn’t mean people can’t discuss it or point it out
Are we suppose to wait to talk about character flaws until after they resolved it?
Kiall Vun Myeret
Comment ID #243701
Exactly. They’re all traumatized kids who are being difficult in their own ways, and are getting yelled at by us because of it. Though I suppose it’s also natural to defend our faves, or the ones we project onto the most! 🤔🤔🤔

there’s a difference between commenting on character flaws and repeatedly remarking that a character is evil or a bad person for their character flaws
Lily Hoyda
Comment ID #243703
I think you’re right and people are jumping to some conclusions and missing some very sad possibilities. I am also confused at what Lucy’s saying here a little too because it doesn’t map to the Alejandro incident very neatly as many have angrily pointed out. But I don’t know if this seems consistent with a character flaw kind of thing, Lucy isn’t really one for simply lying outright about plain facts on what did or didn’t happen even if you don’t always like her interpretation of things. So as you say, I think if Lucy means what everyone seems to think she means, then I think it’s more than just Lucy being a bratty unreasonable angry person. She may be genuinely losing touch with how things actually happened in the chaos of traumatized anxiety, constant flashbacks and what they can do to memories and if that’s the case that’s awful. I really hope someone can help Lucy distinguish between memory and nightmares again if that’s what she’s struggling with because she seems like she’s losing herself and doing incredibly poorly and no one really knows what’s haunting her truly because it’s clearly not just The Mike Of It All.
mobsterseeker
Comment ID #243704
That’s a really good point, Mobsterseeker.
It makes me wonder further if this could possibly have something to do with Lucy’s displays of hypersexuality.
Something may have happened with the boy from the other school her mother mentioned. And instead of processing what happened there, Lucy could be projecting that trauma onto the situation with Alejandro, so she doesn’t have to think about it. Or something may have still happened with Alejandro after the fact that we didn’t get to see.
Elmanii
Comment ID #243705
@Lily Hoyda Yes, I understood your point. I was also pointing out that it’s not just Lucy with trauma. All of them have it. Which is why I haven’t commented negatively on Lucy’s reaction here. 😊

Yes this is def what I’ve been driving at, too, you put it quite eloquently! the previous chapters and Lucy’s nightmares especially have shown her succumbing to what seem like paranoid delusions that she’s in no way in control of, she’s clearly suffering an extended mental health crisis and doesn’t trust anyone enough to ask for help until she’s pushed to her limits. it makes me sad when people are like “gee Lucy have you considered being a better person” lmao

i just reread that chapter and to say sue did nothing is not only wrong but hurtful. she stood up to them and tried take them on, and they almost broke her nose hitting her into a wall. what was she supposed to do? she also was the one that got them a ride home. sue did a lot!! im defs a biased sue apologist but she did her best considering
