Wow, Haley really hasn’t noticed the change in Mike’s behavior AT ALL.
Does that mean Mike is doing a really good job hiding his depression from his family? Or is her resentment over their unequal treatment making it hard to feel compassion right now?
I hope it’s the former, and I REALLY want to know when, exactly, Mike/Haley/Chris EVER get to see their dad.

It seems more likely her resentment to being considered the “lesser” child is making her act out of spite.
Also noting that night when he came home in eternal flame, he was right back to talking to Sandy. So from her perspective making it was just another one of his temporary outbursts.

I think it goes to show how easy it is to not even know what’s going on in someone’s life. Even your own family/sibling. And I would like to add I’m not dissing Haley, I’m stating that her portrayal of Mike is tainting her image of him even though she can admit he’s done nothing to her.
But I would like to say that it’s ironic she does say “he’s perfect.” When he’s probably the least perfect out of a lot of his friends. He gets angry, vindictive, sometimes physical. He defended a girl he thought was worth his entire life and energy only for it to fall apart. He’s made so many mistakes towards Lucy, Paulo, Daisy, etc… and she doesn’t know that because she never has talked to him on an individual level. (Vice versa of course). It just goes to show how communication can be so important. But when you’re a teenager that’s usually the last thing on your mind lol.

One thing I really love about BCB is they don’t forget everyone’s, even the background characters, personal struggles. Haley feels so real and relatable here! It’s rough when a sibling always seems to take center stage, and that because your problems aren’t “big” enough they matter less.
