Time for perspective: Tess says that Roger would do anything for her. 10-to-1 odds that a big part of the reason that Tess does such a 180 is because Roger, the guy that would “do anything for her,” takes off as soon as its convenient and Tess realizes that she got played like a piano.

i wonder if people are forgetting about tess’s original backstory. in the story she was so in love and dependent on rogger that she was willing to do absolutly anything to get him to love her.
this looks like a common case of a woman acting very irrational and doing very bad things like assault or bullying to get a man to stay in love with her. sometimes women have been known to do stupid things for the ones they “love”
