Oh, this is just a tease to MikexLucy shippers seeing how they were before going back to the cold harsh reality that is the now; Mike won’t even wish Lucy a happy birthday. You’ve changed Mike, you’ve changed so much.

By the look’s of things Lucy looks extremely nervous and she’s backing away on the last panel. Also i’m surprised that Mike became this aggressive with Lucy before the 8th grade, he wasn’t this aggressive with Lucy at all during the 8th grade. I hope this doesn’t become a plot hole.

I guess this is why Lucy believed that Mike’s love for her was unending. She was in denial about their drifting apart because of moments like this, or maybe even just THIS specific moment.
