But but Mike still likes Lucy until end of 9th Grade…
So the end of this event will start the decline of Mike’s liking of Lucy (besides the hope we were given in the Confrontation Arc).
He gets love and then is pushed away to think he’s nothing but a familiar social pillar Lucy uses to interact with others.

No, none of her family members are gonna walk in. The whole reason for this flashback is to show how Lucy “wasted” her first kiss (pg 40 if you don’t remember). The only way that this first kiss will be wasted is if she rejects him now instead of being true to her feelings. She REGRETS not going through with it now.
