Yeah it’s gonna be bad, this has so many parallels to post December Lucy it’s gonna be awful when it happens, I just hope Paulo realizes what’s happening and stops Mike before he does it.

What is interesting is how accepting he is because the dude thinks he deserves it. At the end of the day, he is just a teen. At some point, you would think that even his old friend group would realize he made a mistake, but that he shouldn’t get swallowed whole by it. Mike is alone.

I’ve said this in a previous chapter, but I speculate the reason why Mike’s mental health struggles are generally ignored/downplayed compared to other characters is because some readers don’t want him to improve, or watch him face the consequences of his actions, but they genuinely want him dead.

I think alot of people sympathize with not just Lucy but also have had a person do something akin to what mike did.
But I don’t think they want him dead. In fact, I think some may learning nuance

Yeah…that’s a big suicide watch flag. He’s not fully there, but he’s getting to the point of no return, and now it’s a question of what’s going to be the thing that pushes him over it.
Also, that song is fittingly evil pick for this moment.

Jesus people, you need to relax a bit regarding the whole “suicide try” thing. Do you all want that so badly for him just to prove something? Poor Mike. :(
Maybe his path will be different? Maybe he will find the courage to open up to Paulo or Daisy? Maybe he will surprise us yet and be stronger than Lucy?
How about hoping for that instead?

I don’t think anyone wants Mike to preform suicide (at least I hope not), but rather we’re pointing out that the signs are there.
Maybe things will be different this time, maybe not. Only time will tell.

I agree, it’s just that for some time now I’ve seen so many comments saying “oh no, he’s going to do it/ it’s a sign/ watch over him/ it’s gonna end like that/ he’s on the way there”, like damn, it’s like people are asking for it by this point. :(
And why jump to the conclusion of the “suicide attempt” in the first place? because one character already tried it? not trying to kill yourself doesn’t minimize ones suffering any less.
Suffering from depression can appear in many ways. If every teen tried to kill themselves over every struggle we would have a huge problem (not to belittle struggling teens). Many people can wish to die but not everyone’s brain can actually cross that line and to do it. It’s not that…. “easy”.

I can see Mike eventually breaking down in front of Paulo and telling him everything. Mike and Lucy both keep their struggles to themselves but each does it in a different way:
Lucy puts a huge wall and acts cold, not letting anyone in and deflects approaches with attitude.
Mike, who also avoids talking, still shows SOME emotion and mostly trying to keep standing straight to show it’s “all fine” and fake smile, which feels (to me) a bit more flexible to deal with. that’s why I think there’s a bigger chance for Mike to eventually fold/snap and let it all out.
I’m not saying it can’t be the other way around (in these kind of cases), it’s just my own deduction from what I know about their personalities and how we saw them dealing with certain situations.

I’m sure the Mike hating squad is eating well now. Mike has (almost) no one in his corner, his friend group has a vague idea of him not doing well but don’t really care because Lucy is back. Mike got publicly humiliated in front of James who basically want’s nothing to do with him. And best of all, Mike is now being weirdly smothered by his girlfriend who openly plays with the idea of cheating on him again right to his face just to spite her own mother.
