My hope is that Mike attempts to take his life and shows the hypocrisy of his old friend group…Lucy, David, and Augustus in particular. I also hope that afterwards Mike can get the help he needs and find a circle of friends who can accept the good and bad of him, and help him on his journey to recovery and healing, because everyone deserves redemption. Honestly, the only two people who are not trash in this comic are Paulo and Sue. I only feel guilty for Mike currently because he attempted to keep distance and not engage with Lucy, and only really broke it off because Augustus has a savior complex and goaded a reaction out of him, dragging Lucy in, who also was toxic asf. I am going to tell you, Mike, that you project your feelings and lead people on, while not acknowledging how I did the same thing to you and Paulo. Then guilt Paulo into silence by reneging on telling him not to keep the promise of choosing me over Mike. Mike and Lucy need therapy and to work through their own personal demons and stop dragging people into their own messes.

I mean, I don’t HOPE for that, but… yeah, it really feels like that’s the direction things have been going for a bit. Ive been basically waiting for the other shoe to drop for years now, and every so often am willing to think I might be wrong. The track team was the most recent case, where it looked like Mike might have found new friends to escape his depressive spiral. And now here we are, worse than ever.
