It would be a far more fitting ending if that were the case (besides, in my opinion, after Mike apologized to Lucy after the play and offered to be friends). Having the rest of the group grapple with the fact that they arrived too late or did nothing when the signs were there and the fallout afterwards would add to the tension and drama.

There doesn’t seem to be anyone or anything left for Mike, and his role is no longer relevant in the story with the inclusion of James and Lucy back at the table. Given there’s nowhere to go for Mike’s character arc, I’d say he’s probably dead.

Considering this is most likely going to be a Lucy and Sue chapter, I’m praying that Lucy opens up to her about everything (how the play led to her suicide attempt, how she still holds some resentment towards her, her relapsing once again because of Mike kissing her) and the two can start to make amends. If she holds everything in and ultimately crashes out on Sue like she’s done with Paulo in past instances and nothing is gained, I’m just going to sigh.
