Sam must be a horrible driver, they’d likely be dead if he drive in this weather. It’s good he stopped Mike anyways though, if he buried her successfully, she’d be lost until the spring, her white fur camouflages far too well in the snow. That’s probably how Sam snuck up on them, damn white cats are like ghosts in winter.
Course as soon as they lose him, Mike and Lucy are going for another roll in the snow. Just gonna have to make sure he’s not watching, eh Mike?
