It just occurred to me, but this is almost the exact same thing Mike wound up doing in the last chapter; seeking comfort and affection from the first place they could think of based on proximity and convenience. Obviously it wasn't the right decision in either case, but thankfully for Lucy, Augustus is mature enough to know that, and seems to really be putting his foot down in this case.
