Yes!! I am happy to see her finally really confront that… I’m sure Mike will be trying to downplay, deny, or excuse it, but he never got properly called out on how HE has played around with HER feelings. At his convenience, of course.

What does it mean

I think Vero usually changes the lineart to reference a specific scene or chapter but I can’t tell which one this is supposed to be. Page 11 of a distance apart maybe? Or just a reference to earlier chapters all together

Elisa

Comment ID #36024

The latter is how I took it; a kind of visual representation of just how long all of this has been going on.

whiteboypizza

Comment ID #36025

Ooooh now shes really laying it out. She’s not going to hold back anymore.

Seems like the time for confrontation is neigh. And Mike will likely need to start ALL THE WAY over if he really wants to grow

I know its more about how they react rather than what happens to them but like seriously all of these issues stem from Sandy. It makes me wonder how different the story would be if she was never around

Red Miso

Comment ID #36028

Maybe Mike would’ve gotten obsessed with Lucy and they could just be like a toxic ouroboros together instead

Nev Ravenoak

Comment ID #36029

Some problems were definitely Sandy. However Lucy and Mike’s friendship has always been co-dependent in a non-healthy way.

Elmanii

Comment ID #36030

Mike would still likely have issues with anger management and otherwise bottling up his emotions in an unhealthy way. But odds of Mike and Lucy staying closer is high. Sandy was the one that drove them apart at the very start. That said, it’s uncertain if they’d ever really get together. Lucy was a lot more closed off with her feelings towards mike at the start. Though I do wonder if that was a defense mechanisms developed in part due to Mike basically ditching her as soon as Sandy came into the picture. It’s a really interesting thought experiment to be sure.

One thing I am glad about in this timeline, however? Lucy hitting her low point allowed her to get closer with Augustus, which in turn helped him find a way out of the life he was living up to that point. If Mike and Lucy never had Sandy come between them, Augustus would still be miserable as a part of Alejandro’s group.

I think Sandy actually served to make the issues between Mike and Lucy clearer. Personally I think that even if Sandy wasn’t around Mike and Lucy would still have their falling out considering how toxic and co-dependent their friendship was. Honestly I think the blow up then would’ve been just as bad but for separate reasons

Julien the Demon

Comment ID #36033

oh hell yeah

I do truly think Mike is not aware of how things actually looked. he needed other people to point out that, hey, he and Sandy are definitely a couple. but at this point it’s been two and a half years since that and he’s just never reflected on what the prior 5 meant to those around him

SomeColourMage

Comment ID #36034

Finally, she’s finally going to express her true thoughts. As for Mike, yeah it might sound hurtful for what she is about to say but he really needs to hear this from the one person that he grew almost all his life with and if he truly cares and still worries about her like he claims he will actually listen and for once actually humble himself and not let his “I’m right and you are wrong” mindset get to him

right?? Here’s hoping!!!!

Hopefully some real healing, atonement, and accountability this time.

Cause it’s clear it’s all boiling over at this point with no real resolution or a true confrontation, hell not even the parents done jack shit or are even aware at all

Actually…are Mike and Lucy parents even aware at all what’s been happening all this time, or at all?

Rocky Wolfknight

Comment ID #36037

I think Lucy’s parents might have somewhat of an idea? (Or at least, her mom seems to have made some assumptions on things) But I don’t think they know the fine details of it all.

Arthur

Comment ID #36038

I feel like the final tipping point overall is all parents are going to find out and get involved.

And how much a falling out it’s going to cause for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE

Candyboi6576

Comment ID #36041

Yeah she’s not clear on that one

Rocky Wolfknight

Comment ID #36042

Yeah, I’m trying to remember which time too, because their last interaction I believe it was proven that she went for the kiss. But I might be wrong

Sap

Comment ID #36043

Honestly I think that actually adds to her point that HE strung HER along not vice versa

Calico Dragonalia

Comment ID #36044

I think she’s referring to what happened in Pillow Talk, page 48. She’s remembering it from awhile ago. I could also be wrong

Sugarfreefox

Comment ID #36045

There is no “proof” in eternal flame only context clues and if you ask me lucy was not the one to initiate that.

I know I said before that the school track among mixed company probably wasn’t the best venue for this conversation, but the way that Mike refuses to let himself be the bad guy kinda makes having an audience beneficial for Lucy getting her side out.

M0use

Comment ID #36049

I hope shes referring to that kiss in Eternal Flame after he broke up with Sandy and when he ran into Lucy at the tree. That was so messed up lol “I chose blue for my scarf because it reminded me of your eyes” 🙄 Then just goes back to Sandy same night.

Mearcyn

Comment ID #36050

Doubt it, it was stated Lucy pulled the kiss. Yeah Mike said that corny lovey stuff but she was the one that initiated the kiss. Someone pointed out a good point where she might be referring to back to “pillow talk” where all the girls had a sleepover and Lucy went on about something in the past and Mike did kiss her where he tried to confess to her and she kinda rejected him there.

Sap

Comment ID #36051

I reread Eternal Flame and it looks more like Mike is initiating the kiss and Lucy is getting swept up in everything after he apologized and told her he never hated her. But if the author has said otherwise than ok

Mearcyn

Comment ID #36052

Tbf even if she is referring to the kiss in Eternal Flame, Mike did kiss her back, she could be talking about that aspect of it (Though personally I feel like she’s referring to the one in Pillow Talk)

Arthur

Comment ID #36053

Lucy might have been the one that leaned into it, but Mike was the one that pretty much goaded her into doing it when she was more than ready to leave and just walk away as potential friends again in Eternal Flame. He knows that Lucy still has those kinds of feelings for him, and it was kind of manipulative in hindsight. Especially since it could have been coming from a place of malice over the fact that Sandy herself was cheating.

I know Vero said she kissed him, but I always wonder how much we can trust what Vero says. She does like to bamboozle us readers, (and we like the wild ride)

Wait, is she talking about the part where she’s like “Let me go!” & “Don’t touch me!” in Eternal Flame? If she is then oooh that’s gonna be soooo baaaaad!

Machias

Comment ID #36059

We’re finally there! I thought all this stuff had pretty much already been hashed out, the shit he pulled the night he learned Sandy was cheating on him has been the main transgression I’ve wanted addressed for ages x_x

Peligrin

And it looks like Mike will receive the consequences, just as the many people who said he hasn’t received them had hoped. And boy it looks like its going to be a doozy. If I was a betting man I would bet my bottom dollar that after this everyone Mike had just made friends with will drop him like a sack of potatoes. The only thing that makes me reluctant to do that is that Vero might have a curve ball to throw at us. She always makes this story hard to predict. That’s why I like it so much.

American Psycho

I feel like the consequences Is going to even out for everyone if I’m being honest

Like I don’t think August is going to just walk away Scott free without something flying back at him

Rocky Wolfknight

Comment ID #36062

Dude’s entire identity is based on being the best: best at sports, great grades (iirc), being the “best” boyfriend, which meant not ditching Sandy when she came back saying “I don’t know what I’d do without you,” because a “good guy” would take her back, right? We also recently found out that there’s added family pressure of needing to be his mother’s “perfect” boy. Augustus is right; Mike’s codependent. Does that excuse Mike’s behavior? No. Does it explain some things? I think so. Dude needs help, and hasn’t been vulnerable enough with anyone to actually process any of what he’s actually struggling with. Guess we’re seeing the breaking point.

kerBamf

Comment ID #36063

So… Anyone else think Mike might actually be talking about Sandy leading him on, and like the moron he is, he isn’t properly saying anything? I mean, Mike’s an idiot, but not THAT much of one, so he probably realized that fact and being him, now believes he can’t end things because she always says “you’re the person who reminds me of the past” or whatever BS she keeps saying.

jordan sanford

Comment ID #36064

This idea also comes from the fact that when they had their mini break up, Sandy literally said whatever she could to manipulate him back and is now just using him as a vent.
