at this point paulo knows better than to press the issue. when someone responds to you in a hostile way the best thing you can do is leave it :/

Not only that, but he also apologises up-front because he knows by this point that it’s a sore topic for Mike. Seriously, seeing Paulo’s growth over the course of this comic is one of the most engaging aspects at this point. Having him openly show care and compassion for others at this point is really refreshing, especially considering how self-conscious he was about what other people thought of him at the start.

Eeesh, hasn’t forgotten how Paulo shared his feedback to Sandy last time - but I’m wondering if his anger about that isn’t just because Paulo butted in, but also because he’s starting to realize Paulo had a point..!
